Dr. Richard Edward Sturm, MD

This doctor did not diagnosis my problem and instead ordered PT which only made my issue worse. Requested a second opinion. I was in tears during visits and he did not listen to me.

Saw Dr Sturm after rotator cuff surgery. Pain never improved. Dr Sturm kept saying may have limitations. Then did a 180 on one visit and said I could go back to my physically demanding job with out restrictions. He knew I could not raise my hand over my head and I was still in pain and did This anyway. I was in so much pain I went for a second opinion and got another MRI. Dr Erickson, Head of Othorpedic Surgery at Thedacare put my through an extension evaluation at Theda at Work and reviewed the MRI. The MRI showed the damage in my shoulder was WORSE than before my surgery. I cannot do repetitive lifting and I cannot do any work over shoulder height. Dr Sturm had access to these MRIs but still couldn’t see why I couldn’t go back to physical labor. I can only assume that he works strictly for workman’s comp or that senility has set in. MRIs do not lie. I would like to file a complaint with the medical board but senility is not a reason you can file . My advice is do not see him… because he could turn on you at any given time.

Never got the diagnosis correct.

Exemplary treatment by receptionists and other staff. Doctor was prompt, cared about me and solved my problems. Took extra time explaining the issues and helping me keep working despite some minor work limitations my employer did not initially understand. I'll return for sure if I have another injury.

I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. He completely missed a major problem in my ankle and even told me there was no reason to not run on it. After getting a second opinion from another doctor turns out that the ankle actually needed surgery and would have been made worse had I listened and ran on it. He does not listen to his patients and has no bedside manner.
