Update: I was admitted to the hospital feeling like I was having a heart attack. Lucky it wasn't however I have had to see 3 specialist to rule out why I was in severe pain. I had to see a cardiologist to determine it was not my heart (office visit & echocardiogram), pulmonologist to rule out lung trouble (CT in the hospital & MRI) now I am seeing a Gastroenterologist (EGD done and found hiatal hernia). My stomach is not moving food because my intestines are located in my right chest cavity where my right lung used to be, since my diaphragm is paralyzed. Several thousands have been spent and more to come. I am only 55 years old, I hate not being able to do the things I used to do. I get up every day and do what I can though. I will not let this slow me down. It could have been avoided though. I had a 2cm carcinoid tumor in the lower right lung and he took the whole lung. I have had several Thoracic Surgeons tell me the surgery was completely unnecessary. Yes, I have reported him to the… Kansas Board of Healing Arts. The surgery was in 2010 so the statutory of limitations has run out. I also tried to let this go and not file however every day get worse and my medical bills are out of control. I wrote a letter to Dr. Toon per the nurse at his office and addressed it to him. Dr. Toon did not contact me in any way. I am not looking to sue him for a large amount of money so you can all quit thinking that. I just want the medical paid. Nothing can change the mess that has already been made inside me, diaphragm paralyzed, right lung gone, heart is located on my right side just above my breast and below my clavicle, my liver is pressed under my heart, my intestines directly below that, two broken ribs on the right side and a full Mediastinal shift to the right.

I was diagnosed with a small carcinoid tumor in my lower right lobe of my lung. Dr. Toon removed the complete lung, which I found out later was absolutely unnecessary, and paralyzed my diaphragm. I have had two diaphragmatic plication surgery that have not held, my liver presses against my heart, intestians are pushed up as well and now suffering from a hernia. I have gone from extremely functional adult to disabled. Hard to breath, bend or lift anything. Dr. Toon was located in Wichita at Galicia Hospital. I do not recommend this Dr. to anyone. I have reached out to him to let him know and never even got a reply.

Dr. Toon saved my husband's life! He was very nice and treated my husband and the family with a great deal of respect! His office nurse even called to check on my husband once we were home!

My son had a partially collapsed lung and Dr Toon was professional, calming and explained everything in very understandable language. He was able to quickly put the family and my son at ease. He is funny and concerned. Highly recommend him to anyone needing a quality cardio thoracic surgeon.

Dr. Toon was the surgeon who did my CABG aka open heart surgery at Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita, Ks. I have the most beautiful incision line. After three years it is barely visible! He routed around an embolism that was ready to burst on the coronary branch on my heart. His bedside manner is so wonderful. He is gentle and kind.I would put my life in his hands again at any time necessary.
