Dr. Richard Wallace Townsend, MD

When going through the worst hell of my life through 2 years of chronic pain,100 lost pounds, 3 days out of the hospital; Townsend accused me of being a drug seeker and told me my whole story was suspicious while waiting on my scans that the hospital was not sending from an appointment that he rescheduled mind you. brushed off everything i said, asked for the quick version of the symptoms when i tried to explain 2 years of hellish suffering and then ultimate did nothing for me besides offer me another anti depressant which seems to be the only thing the man wants to do. If you're going through anything truly awful and you need someone with compassion this is not the man to go to, totally uncaring. The moment I started talking and his first response is opening E-FORCSE(im healthcare worker myself) I can tell exactly the kind of person im dealing with. reposting my google review here and adding the info that I discovered 8 months after this happened that i have a neurological disorder… that was the cause of nearly all my symptoms, which makes his treatment of me all the more offensive and horrific. My only goal here is to hurt this man financially, its no shock he was fired from baptist as hes an incompetent nasty man.

Dr. Townsend is a complete doctor. He takes the time to answer questions too.

Dr. Townsend is the best doctor I have ever had. He is proactive in potential problems and is able to see me on short notice when I have problems. I would recommend his practice to anyone. His practice takes care of my entire family.

Very thorough in his examination and spot on in his diagnosis. Friendly and accommodating office staff.

I think that Dr. Townsend is a good Doctor, and he truly cares about his patients. The only thing that bothered me was he stated that I hadn't had a mammogram in a few years. I in fact have a yearly mammogram at the Baptist Health Imaging on I95 on Old St. Augustine Rd. Apparently, Baptist Health Imaging does not share with Baptist Primary care - isn't that ironic? What does one have to do to get that information transferred from one Baptist facility to another?

Dr Townsend is a good doctor that has my best interest at heart. He does not always tell me what I want to hear, but what I need to hear. Excellent service. Never have had to wait more than a few minutes to be seen when I have an appointment. His staff is good and do a good job, but sometimes their common sense is a bit off. Overall they do a good job though. I have referred people to him and would continue to do so.

Seems to have some communication problems with staff-expecially front desk.

Please be aware of any blood work or test that are done, that are not medically necessary and are not covered by Insurance!

I found this doctor's manner to be domineering and abrasive. Usually I deal with my doctor's in a collaborative manner and he would not work this way. He got into my face and tried to insist that I do what he recommended. He used scare tactics. He was wrong in his diagnosis.

Dr. Townsend is caring, spends time talking with you. Staff is courteous and caring. Very knowlegable, excellent diagnostician. Lab on site. Little wait time.
