Dr. Richard Jesung Yun, MD

I have been to several psychiatrists over the years and have talked to friends who have been to psychiatrists. Dr. Yun is by far the best I have seen, and from talking to friends, a good psychiatrist is not easy to find. I am very pleased with having him as my doctor. He is patient, really listens, and gives me practical advice that I can understand without being pushy, condescending, or arrogant. He helps me to understand the often misleading things that I read on the internet. Decisions are made after discussion of the potential benefits and risks in a way that makes sense to me. I could not ask for anything more.

**Note: ALWAYS take your medicine and if you're fine with Richard Yun, keep him. This is for people considering him as a psychiatrist for medication management. I have a psychologist.** I have Bi-Polar II. My Lamictal, that I love so much, has worked for years at managing my mood swings. Abilify manages my psychosis. Basically, I have my medications for the big issues. I went to Richard Yun for anxiety and HE decided changing my mood stabilizer for anxiety was the way to go. I wasn't suffering from mania. Things were not grand. My life was complicated. I had a reason(s) to be anxious. By the time Richard Yun finished with me my mania was so bad I couldn't function during my complicated time and then he ignored the side effects I was having. Thankfully, I found a new psychiatrist. I am back to taking my Lamictal and Abilify. Buspirone is being used to treat my anxiety. I feel good. For me the old cliche, "if it ain't broke don't fix it" was something that should have been followed.

Dr. Yun is fantastic. Offers a bit of talk therapy as well just to check in and ensure that things are going well, stable, etc.

Would highly recommend.

He's very knowledgeable, probably the smartest psychiatrist I've seen...ever. He really knows his medications. He is a little slow in the work-up and isn't the most sympathetic person, but it's very comforting to see him if you've been having a very bad time because you can talk to him and he really knows what to do. He's takes a slow and stable approach and is NOT a pill pusher at all. He's not the kind of doctor you will see on a bad day and walk out with a prescription for your bad day, but he does make sure you will be taken care of. After a horrible string of psychiatrists earlier this year, I like Dr. Yun and have stuck with him for five months and I plan to continue care with him.
