Dr. Rick James Bucher, MD

I've been Dr. Bucker's patient for over ten years. He is the best! Not only very competent but also truly attentive and caring. Highly recommended his practice and him personally as a primary care provider. Can't rate high enough!

I have been a patient of Dr Bucher's since he began his practice in Oxford. I consider him to caring and highly competent physician who has provided the best of medical care consistently over thirty years. He is an asset to the Oxford community.

I was Dr. Bucher's patient for many years and found him very pleasant and in general a good doctor (I have not had any serious health challenges). But in the past several years it has been increasingly difficult to schedule an appointment with him (the phone is typically 'busy' all morning every day, and when it began to be busy in the afternoon too I several times drove to the office to make an appointment). When the wait time went to an hour and a half I decided to look elsewhere and have found another doctor. The office appears to be badly run, though the staff were always pleasant. I always blame poor management on the boss, not the employees!

Friendly and courteous bedside manner. Very personable. Most of the office staff nice. Provided assistance scheduling an appointment for specialist. Wait time longer than I prefer. Follow up for test results initiated by me on 2 of the 4 total visits. I really like the guy but he could use someone who is organized to assist or another physician to decrease wait times and follow-up.

I actually love Dr. Bucher as a doctor. However, I agree with others that the waiting time is way too long. I have asked for the first appt of the day and been assured that I would get in on time but still had to wait around 45 minutes to get in. I have called ahead to see if they are running on schedule and have been assured that they are only to have to wait over an hour. My waiting time is generally over an hour each time. Now, they have a switchboard system on the phone and no one even answers the phone when you call even though there are many staff members in the office (ignoring the ringing phone). Dr. Bucher seriously needs to rethink his office staff and scheduling arrangements.

wait time is pathetic there! and it's not the fault of the staff or scheduling- and then when you do see him- he's in and out so fast- always in such a hurry- makes you wonder what kind of care you're getting- no thanks- I prefer to be a real patient with a doc who cares about me than a statistical number and $ in his pocket. Also, staff seems to be turning over A LOT in the last few years and I can't say for the better!

Dr. Bucher has been my doctor for over 20 years and I am hoping for 20 more. Very professional and caring.

Briefly, I had two visits with Dr. Bucher for unrelated issues within about six months of each other. I chose him because he was in my health insurance network and near where I was living at the time.Although I found Dr. Bucher to be reasonably kind and not unhelpful, I never plan to visit him again because of the extremely long waits I had both times I visited his office. Each time, I showed up around 15 minutes early, yet waited greater than an hour each time *after* my appointment time before I could see the doctor. Neither the staff nor the doctor ever explained why the long waits occurred nor apologized.Furthermore, both my visits were very brief (I am young and in good health, and both visits were for minor issues). The second time, the doctor spent about five minutes with me, then practically rushed out of the examination room as soon as he gave his quick diagnosis before I had time to ask a follow-up question (I had to call him back into the investigation room from the… hallway).Perhaps my visits were out of the normal, but two similar disappointments was enough for me to decide against returning.

Good doctor overall, but I never wait for less than 45 minutes when showing up for a scheduled appointment. Phone wait for follow up to possible reaction to medicine at 1 hour and 40 minutes and counting...think it is time to find another Doc...
