Dr. Rick Charles Chatwell, MD

I met with Dr. Rick Chatwell for severe osteoarthritis in my thumbs and severe bunions on my feet. Dr. Chatwell told me that nothing could be done for the arthritis in my hands except take pain relievers. For my feet, he told me to get orthotics (orthotics will not correct severe bunions). He did not refer me to any other physicians for these issues, probably because he didn't think anything could be done. I later found out that there were surgeries that could be done on my hands and feet. Dr. Tennity at Capital Foot & Ankle corrected my bunions; Dr. Machado at Prairie Orthopaedic replaced my thumb joints with implants. I had excellent results with the bunion and thumb surgeries. If I had not gotten second opinions and only followed Dr. Chatwell's advice, I would have eventually lost mobility in my hands and feet. I had already lost some mobility in my left hand. I know of someone else who needed hand surgery, and Dr. Chatwell had told her nothing could be done, so I know he has done… this to other people. I would NOT recommend Dr. Chatwell to anyone.

Dr. Chatwell is very kind and understanding. He is prompt, and takes the time to answer your questions and/or address your concerns. I never feel rushed with him, and does a great job of working you in if needed between scheduled appointments. I have, and will continue, to recommend Dr. Chatwell to anyone.

He is willing to take time and explain things in detail. He does not make feel rushed and is willing to listen.
