Dr. Rick Papandrea, MD

Dr. Papandrea was very kind, He explained everything and made sure I was comfortable with the information. Clearly knows what he is doing! I’ve only heard great things about him.

Recently I had a complete right shoulder replacement done at Orthopaedic Associates of Wisconsin in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. Surgery was performed by Dr. Rick Papandrea, who was assisted by physician assistant Ryan Hamm. Surgery was performed as an outpatient, and I was home from surgery/recovery in less than 6 hours. Within 2 days, I was not required to use an arm sling, and I was provided with rehab/therapy exercises which I could perform at home. Additional physical therapy was offered, but not needed in my case. In the evening of surgery, Dr. P. called me at home to make sure that everything was going well for me. Starting the day following surgery and continuing for a number of weeks, I received optional daily text messages from Dr. P., which were motivational and informational, and contained many helpful tips to get through recovery and rehab. The messages helped reassure that help and advice were available, if needed. Being diligent with following the recommended rehab exercises, I… felt recovery went very quickly, and soon I had full use of my shoulder. At no time did I ever experience any pain, following surgery or during recovery. Dr. Papandrea is an extremely talented, skilled and caring doctor who was reassuring through the entire experience. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND him, along with PA Hamm and the entire OAW staff for your orthopaedic surgery needs. They were AWESOME!

I am forever grateful for Dr. Rick Papandrea and the care he has given me for my fractured elbow. His superior care, communication and understanding are far the best I have ever experienced.

Dr. Papandrea completed a reverse shoulder replacement on my right shoulder approximately one year ago. I could not be more pleased with my outcome. From the initial consultation to my one-year follow up, Dr. Papandrea and his staff were fantastic. I couldn't recommend him more hightly. The shoulder is working better than expected and my yoga instructors are impressed.

The care I have received from Dr. Papandrea, Ryan, and the staff at OAW has been top-notch. Every step of my surgery and recovery was explained to me before my surgery. The occupational therapy team at OAW called me to schedule my therapy appointments before I even had my surgery. Dr. Papandrea is a very kind, caring and patient doctor. He took time out of his busy schedule to call me in the evening the day I had my surgery to see how I was doing. Dr. Papandrea and Ryan always got back to me right away whenever I messaged them with a question. I loved the daily text messages I received after my surgery. They were very informative and helpful. I absolutely love my occupational therapist - she has been great to work with. I highly recommend Dr. Papandrea, Ryan and the staff at OAW.

I experienced a significant OneWheel crash that resulted in several broken bones in my elbow when my arm bent the wrong way. Dr. Papandrea performed two surgeries to put me back together, and although he stopped short of turning me into the “bionic man” per my request, he fixed everything and gave me my life back. This man is incredibly skilled in his craft, he’s very detailed and precise, and he’s one heck of a nice guy. I’m an old man who has seen more than my share of doctors, and I consider Dr. Papandrea to be the best of the best.

We are blessed that my son was referred to Dr. Papandrea and his team with Ryan Hamm PA. Dr. Papandrea is not only an incredible surgeon but genuinely cares for his patients. He carefully explained all options and made us feel comfortable at a time of distress. We felt confident with his recommendation as he carefully considered my son's long term needs as a teen athlete. He kindly took my calls post surgery and sends helpful follow up texts.

I am extremely pleased with the shoulder replacement I received from Dr. Papandrea for many reasons. First, Dr. Papandrea is both professional and personable. He took the time to answer all of my questions and explain the procedure thoroughly before surgery, and he continued to address all of my questions during follow-up appointments. Furthermore, I greatly appreciated the daily emails sent by Dr. Papandrea and his staff regarding what to expect in the days following my surgery. In addition, both Dr. Panandrea and his staff were incredibly efficient throughout the whole process.

Dr. Papandrea and his team provided excellent care before, during, and after the surgery to relieve arthritis pain in my left thumb main joint. They had done this surgery on my right thumb three years earlier, and I wanted them to do my left thumb also. I'm very pleased with both results!

Dr Papandrea has done surgery on my wife who has been a Nurse at Froedtert for many years and worked with many doctors. She cannot stop saying how excellent Dr Papandrea was throughout the whole experience and her shoulder feels excellent!! He just did my shoulder surgery as well and I am so blessed to have had him as my surgeon as well. I was touched by his sincere care and the intense study he did on me even though he’s done these type of operations for 30 years I believe! What a rarity to have someone take his profession so to heart. The world would be blessed in many ways if we all took our life’s work this much to heart. He has a great team around him too in many areas including his PA assistant Ryan was exceptional and right through the PT staff and facilities . Many prayers were said on my behalf and the Lord Jesus answered them with the hands, head and heart of Dr Papandrea....and for that I am grateful!!!
