Dr. Riley Duane Love, MD

My mother is a patient of Dr. Love's and has been for a number years. On a recent visit she was accused of not having the medication she's prescribed in her urine test but something else. My sister and I both take care of my mother and we know her medications and know as a fact she has never taken the drug he accused her of. She only takes what is prescribed. He was nice enough not to discharge her and said that the latest test had to be reflective of her prescription and I would do a pill count at the next visit. Which we all understand. But my mother is 80 plus years old and would never take a drug that she's not prescribed or sell or share her drugs or not take her prescribed drugs. His response to us was "the tests don't lie". Perhaps the test don't lie, but that doesn't mean that mistakes aren't made in his office or in the labs. My mother doesn't sign her urine cup or initial or sign the vial her urine is sent into the lab in. So mistakes can happen. I worked in a pain management… clinic for several years and I know the amount of stress and paperwork that can overwhelm employees. Our Mom does well on this medication and with the injections he does so we all want her to stay with him. And she was happy with him. But she was absolutely devastated over this accusation of failing a drug test. My mother on her last visit urinated in the cup and the employee left it sitting on the cart outside the bathroom for the entire visit which was over two hours because he was running behind and my mother couldn't wait to go to the bathroom. It was still sitting there when we left his office. My mother is a good, honest Christian woman and I hate seeing her accused of wrongdoings. I'm not trying to get anyone in his office in trouble but like I said before people make mistakes and Labs make mistakes. I'm also concerned with how they are cutting the prescribed medications to a point that probably cannot control people like my Mother's pain. While I understand why this is being done, I don't think the the people who need this medication should be punished like this. I hope that these regulations can be worked out to where there are not people suffering because of the ways of the patients who divert, sell and misuse their medications. I honestly don't know what's going to happen to people who really need their pain medication. When they make the regulations to where only cancer patients can get pain medication these pain clinics will be closing like wildfire and all of these patients will be diverted back to their family doctors he won't be able to treat them either. It's a very scary situation for those in need.

My husband has been seeing Dr Love for 4 years now. We have never had a bad experience with him. My husband hurt his shoulder at work and had to have surgery. Well sad to say it got infected and now his shoulder can not be repaired. His Doctor recommended he see Dr Love and we have ever since. He keeps us up-to-date on new things he can try (injection wise), what’s going to come out soon or down the road and what all our options are to make his shoulder pain ease up. He is very easy to talk too and understands my husbands case and everything we have been through. Will not change doctors for anything! Hope he never retires!

I’ve been seeing Dr. Love for 12 to 14 years. Maybe even a little longer. Dr. Love is a great doctor with a great bedside manor. He will take his time with you and explain everything he has planned for your treatment. He will answer any questions or concerns you have. I’ve never had a doctor spend so much time with me. The very first time I saw him, he spent close to 45 minutes with me. Dr. Love knows pain, and how to treat it.

I have been going to Dr. Love since 2013. He is very kind and compassionate and his staff is great. I saw one of the nurses at a restaurant and she came and gave me a hug. I broke my back several years ago and had constant and very severe pain. I had no quality of life. Dr. Love gave that back to me. I told him that I hoped he never retired. I can't imagine life without him. He gets a 5 star rating from me.

I have been going here a few times bc that is just where my medical card has taken me. I am only 31 yrs old, female and my first time ever to see pain management doctor. The staff are very rude especially front desk. Dr. love seems ok, but I try to tell him I still have pain in my back and neck and some days I cannot move my neck up or down. He gives me the injections in my back about every 3 mo. And gives me 15 pain pills a month to take was needed. And only to take 1 aday, which does not even help at all. Also the nurse practitioner put in medical records that I am allergic to percocets, which I am not and now I cannot get that off my medical record and gave ask several times. If I could I would see another pain management doc.

Dr. Love is a good doctor. His staff in the front office is horrible and needs to be fired for unprofessionalism. Called office time and again and it says office is closed and it is during their regular business hours.

They called me to set an appointment. I said I needed to wait a couple of days because I had other obligations. They said they couldn't hold my referral and I would have to go through my Dr. again to get another referral. This is not a professional way to take care of a patients needs. This was very rude and I told them I would not be needing their service. Sometimes these servants forget who are paying their salaries. I could never recommend going here for their help.

Dr. Love is rude, doesn't listen, insisted on doing sets of numerous painful injections which really didn't help. Told him that I wouldn't take any more of these ($1000 Medicare procedure). That day he cut my pain meds by a third. Have chronic severe pain for years. Told me to take aleve or Tylenol instead. The drastic cut in my pain meds seems retaliatory for refusing to continue injections. Cash cow for Medicare reimbursement is gone, so he was clear the pain meds were going to be gone to. He basically told me that if I wanted to get better I could. My spinal column has all sorts of damage. This isn't going to miraculously disappear. Meanwhile, I'm sitting here in absolute misery. This man only cares about money. Also frequently smirking about my fibromyalgia, neurological movement disorder, and back diagnosis all of which were done at Vanderbilt Med Center.
