Dr. Rita Brown Bermudez, MD

Rita downplayed how difficult it would be to obtain a medical certificate because of a DUI with a high BAC I received 8 years ago. If she would have explained to me what the process would have been like given my high BAC, and what other options I had to still fly with trying to obtain a medical certificate (ie. becoming of a sport pilot), I could have been in the air sooner and saved myself thousands of dollars trying to get my certification pushed through the FAA's bureaucratic nightmare process.

Dr. Bermudez "examined" me on two separate occasions a couple of years apart. She was essentially paid by Sacramento County to tell them what they wanted--which was to deny my claim for the injury I received on the job (having NEVER been injured in any way re: my spine outside of work). She made multiple "mistakes" in her report including saying I drank alcohol (I never do), that I was in a motorcycle accident (never happened) and opined that my injury was something I was making up or exaggerating against the opinions and evaluations of at least three doctors, some of whom I had seen regularly for almost a decade (it's now been 13 years and I'm still in chronic pain and unable to work). Dr. Bermudez purposefully made me wait a long time in her waiting room to observe me sitting/standing (which caused extra and undue pain). She based her opinion on her subjective extrapolations rather than on facts. Worst QME I've had to date.

Had to have a difficult test with needles. Doctor assured me we would stop if it got to be too much. Explained procedure fully. Very through and explained results. Best person to do this test

Very competent, compassionate & caring.....Modern day medicine with traditional values.

She may be great IF she is NOT working for the insurance company. She caused me to be declined for benefits. She actually told me that she did not understand what "these" people wanted for her to do regarding my evaluation. She also opined a LOT in their favor. Watch out if you go for an independent medical review!!!

I have nothing but good things to say about Dr Bermudez. She understood my condition and treated me with respect and compassion. Even though she knew that there was little that could be done for me except pain management - she exihibited a positive and caring attitude which I have not forgotten - years later.
