Dr. Ritika Walia, MD

Ritika Walia, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Assistant Attending Physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. She specializes in the care of patients with hematologic malignancies and with non-cancerous hemoglobin disorders such as thalassemia, with a focus on bone marrow transplantation, cellular therapies, and gene therapy. Dr. Walia earned a B.S. in Biology and Neuroscience from Brandeis University and an M.D. from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine-Pediatrics from the University of Massachusetts Chan-Baystate Medical Center, fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at the University of Massachusetts Chan-UMass Memorial Medical Center, and subspecialty fellowship training in Bone Marrow Transplantation and Immune Effector Cell Therapy at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Following her training, Dr. Walia was recruited to join the faculty in the Weill …Cornell Medicine Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Cell Therapy Program. Dr. Walia’s main research focus is on the scholarship of healthcare disparities and BMT survivorship, with particular emphasis on the Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) and underserved populations. She has co-authored peer-reviewed publications in Human Immunology and Supportive Care in Cancer, and has presented at national meetings.
