Dr Rituraj Upadhyay, MD

Dr. Upadhyay received his MD degree from the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He completed a Radiation Oncology Residency from The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, where he also served as the Chief Resident; and fellowships in Precision Radiation Oncology/Proton Therapy from Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, and Advanced Radiation Oncology from MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas.Dr. Upadhyay's clinical focus is on the treatment of central nervous system (CNS) tumors, with a special interest in primary and secondary brain tumors, pediatric brain tumors, radiosurgery, proton therapy, and radiopharmaceuticals. His research interests include mitigating radiation toxicities through improved radiation planning, developing novel therapies for radiation necrosis, and exploring radionuclide imaging and radioligand therapy for brain tumors. He has worked extensively on use of natural supplements such as Boswellia Serrata for reducing …cerebral edema following radiosurgery for brain metastases, a novel work for which he was awarded ASTRO Foundation's Radiation Oncology Institute (ROI) 2025 Publication Excellence Award and American Radium Society's (ARS) Early Career Oncologist Award. He has published numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts in high impact journals and has presented his research at multiple national and international conferences such as the ASTRO, SIOP, ASCO, and ESMO meetings. In addition, he is passionate about global oncology, improving access to cancer care, and teaching medical students. He serves as an Associate editor for eContour.org and lead for the American College of Radiology (ACR) radiation oncology webinar series.
