Dr. Robert Andrews, MD

I originally consulted with numerous surgeons about an enormous and unsightly incisional hernia I had. I had consulted with numerous doctors, and had many terrible experiences as a result. Purely as a coincidence, when I was consulting with Dr Andrews about my hernia, he discovered a cancerous nodule on my lung, and it wasn’t even the problem I was originally consulting him about. I was completely unaware of the nodule showing on my scan. The other surgeons hadn’t noticed it. He insisted I see a lung doctor about the problem, and I did, and I had the lung surgery. In short, Dr Andrews may have very well saved my life. I then consulted, again, with Dr Andrews about the hernia I had. Two of the other surgeons I’d consulted with over the years had not recommended hernia surgery. The one surgeon besides Dr Andrews that did recommend hernia surgery wasn’t all that enthusiastic. It was an awful dilemma for me. The hernia was very large and uncomfortable. I could not have found a… surgeon more wonderful than Dr Andrews. He is tremendously compassionate, kind, patient, and fastidious in his work. He and a plastic surgeon he recommended did my hernia surgery 4 months ago. The results are nothing short of amazing. It was a tedious and difficult recovery, but was the best hospital experience I’ve ever had. My gratitude towards this doctor cannot be expressed enough.

Dr. Andrews was really patient, both in listening (to description of symptoms) and in explaining causes and diagnosis. He appeared richly knowledgeable and experienced in his field of expertise and very polite and courteous and sympathetic. Unfortunately the office operation was downright awful: inept, neglectful, and inefficient. Took many, many calls, weeks of delay and repeated interventions from doctors to confirm appointments, schedule tests, or even to get a call back from the staff. I'd still recommend the doctor, but only to patients who need a consultation on an non-urgent medical problem. Both patients and doctors should be served better by a more attentive staff.
