Dr. Robb Geoffrey Rutledge, MD

Dr. Rutledge may be fine for your run-of-the-mill orthopedic problem or fracture. However, after performing surgery on my femur following a car accident, Dr. Rutledge failed to refer me to a sub-specialist even though I had the "worst traumatic fracture" he had ever seen. As a result of his incompetence, my femur remained broken for the next 6 months! After each follow-up visit Dr. Rutledge said I should begin walking soon, but offered no additional answers/treatments. Finally, we consulted Mayo Clinic for a second opinion, got in the following week for a bone graft (to stimulate bone healing) and I was walking six weeks later. Needless to say, we didn't return to Dr. Rutledge. When he learned we were transferring care to Mayo, he was very terse, and insisted a bone graft would have been his next suggestion. Yeah, right. Thanks for making me suffer needlessly; his ego is simply too big to recognize when he's out of his small-town league.
