Dr. Robert Clinton Albers

I have been to see Dr. Albers 5 times for sleep issues, and have always been pleased with my visits. He asks excellent, perceptive questions and treats me like a responsible adult when giving prescriptions or changes in my CPAP equipment. A couple of times when I have called his office for something, he has returned the call personally, and I really appreciated that. I'm really pleased to have him as my sleep doctor!

I will never go back to Dr. A. He won't really give any help. He won't give medications for sleep because he doesn't want you to fall but if you can't sleep and are shaky and unsteady, that doesn't matter. I think the breathing machine is always the answer and everybody has sleep apnea. Not true! I wished I had looked him up before I went. I would have gone elsewhere.

What an absolutely abysmal Dr. this man is. Whatever you do, don't ask any questions or point out any facts that pose any difficulties to whatever mental track he's on during his "diagnosis" or you will be the witness to the most unpleasant display of a petty and easily offended ego you've likely ever seen. Don't expect any help for your problem either. I left hundreds of dollars poorer with no help for my insomnia whatsoever. I should have seen it as a red flag when his receptionist had me pay in advance. In addition, I was treated like a drug addict when I indicated that I had previously been helped by sleep medicine. Expect to be manhandled during the examination as well without so much as a warning along the lines of "this might hurt a little" or so much as an apology when he's done. All told, the absolute worst experience I've ever had with any physician, ever. Avoid at all costs.

Appointment with this physician did not go at all well. He needs to consider that the patient is a human being with many conditions and that his advice to just stop taking medication for the other conditions can be detrimental to the patient. Sleep apnea is a serious condition but so are other conditions that patients have. Only cares about one aspect of the patient - sleep apnea - nothing else exists - only sleep apnea. Would not provide name of another physician for the patient to see. Arrogance is not necessary and talking down to patients as though they have no intelligence is not professional at all. Too bad insurance companies have to pay for this type of attitude and attention - this is one reason insurance rates are very high - they pay for services that should never have occurred in the first place.
