Dr. Robert Joseph Bailey, MD

I am leaving this review to warn other patients. I came to Dr. Robert Bailey at US Digestive with a confirmed diagnosis of severe gastritis/pangastritis, bringing my official endoscopy and colonoscopy reports with me. Dr. Bailey completely dismissed my condition. He refused to look at the procedure videos, stating he 'didn't have a computer.' When I offered to show him on my laptop, he explicitly told me he 'would not look at someone else's work.' He briefly looked at the clear photos in the report showing severe stomach inflammation. ?Instead of treating my diagnosed condition, his only medical advice was to 'eat whatever you want' and mix Miralax and Benefiber together. He jokingly added that 90% of his patients are just backed up. This negligence delayed my healing by two months. ?I eventually had to seek help at an Urgent Care, where they immediately prescribed the correct stomach-coating medications. Ironically, when I called the US Digestive nursing line afterward, their own… nurse confirmed that the Urgent Care medications were the correct treatment for my condition. ?When I brought this failure of care to the office manager and asked to be evaluated by a different doctor in the practice, I was told they stand by Dr. Bailey and that I needed to seek care elsewhere. They still demanded my $50 copay, on top of the $220 my insurance had already paid them for this negligent visit. I refused to pay the extra $50 for a complete lack of medical care. The medical system is broken, and clinics like this know patients often feel they don't have much recourse, which allows them to continue treating people this way. If you have a complex issue or documented medical evidence you need a doctor to actually review, I highly recommend looking elsewhere.

Poor bedside manner. It was approximately 2:30pm and the Patient was halfway through drinking the colonoscopy prep solution when dr. Bailey entered the room and announced the colonoscopy had been cancelled given MRI results from the night prior. No information had been communicated to the patient nor the patients family regarding any abnormal MRI results and when questioned dr. Bailey was unable to provide any insight. He clearly did not recognize the patient, nor the patients family who he had met the night before. Additionally, upon seeing the patient's records of recent blood count results he immediately attributed these to alcoholism without any inquiry further into patient history more discussion with the family. As family i can attest the last time the patient had had a drink was 3 years ago. Very poor bedside manner/patient family interaction. Do not recommend.

Dr. Bailey is a professional doctor at Blair Gastro. He’s friendly, caring and professional and has a great bedside manner.

My check-in experience was a bit disconcerting. I was told that all testing and procedures would need to be done at the surgery center (owned by the practice) and Lansdale Hospital was never used unless there was a medical emergency. Then, I was presented with another form to fill out that I had already completed. The nurse/tech had it with her when she called me for my exam. If I didn't suffer from a vision disability this experience wouldn't have been so stressful. Dr. Bailey, who was very personable, explained that the tests he required could be done anywhere I chose. If I need a procedure which has to be done at their surgery center, there is a free shuttle service available for those of us who are not able to drive ourselves. This put my mind at ease. My check-out experience went very well except for the fact that my doctor wouldn't be available at the Lansdale office at the three week mark he requested for my next appointment. I had to schedule a two month appointment. I am glad… it wasn't an emergency.

Dr. Bailey is the ultimate professional. He was prompt, courteous, and made me feel completely at ease while asking and answering questions. I didn't feel rushed as I do at some appointments. He was very helpful and explained the scheduled procedure in detail. I have complete confidence in his handling of me as a patient!

Pleasant atmosphere. Kind staff. Happy with the choice made in changing practice. Would highly recommend
