Dr. Robert Morris Belt, MD

I saw Dr Belt for several years as he was treating me with idiopathic cardiomyopathy. When he first began treating me, I had an ejection fraction of 15. He aggressively treated me for 5 years. At the end of that time, my EF was up to the 50s and most of my heart related dysthymia has resolved. His care, concern, and knowledge were outstanding and only increased my faith in his ability as a doctor.

Everytime I came to see me, he was always great in making sure all medical needs.

I have been a patient of Dr. Belt's since early 2000. He caught my problem within 2 weeks after being treated for anxiety for 2 years from my primary. Although, he doesn't have the most outgoing personality, that is not important to me. What is important to me is that he is a great physician and he does his job well...especially when he is a heart specialist. He performed my ablation when I was only 24. I wouldn't want to go to anyone else.

He doesn't have a very good bedside manner. When he is asked a question he doesn't answer them fully and seems to have a way of making you feel ignorant and then is in a hurry to get you out of the office . But when you are waiting in the waiting room for well over 2 HOURS he takes his time then.

I was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy in 2000 and my first doctor gave me 5 years before I would be a heart transplant candidate. My first doc was an uncaring, cold and indifferent man. He told me there was nothing else he could do for me. Dr. Robert Belt was a new doctor at East Tennessee Heart Consultants when I started seeing him and he began an aggressive treatment program. My heart's pumping efficiency was 25-30%, but was returned to normal because Dr. Belt had the insight to implant me with a bi-ventricular pacemaker. I was experiencing tens of thousands of premature ventricular contractions (PVCs)which made my daily activities extremely difficult and Dr. Belt told me of a new procedure that was performed by only a handful of doctors in the US. He arranged for me to have this procedure done in Washington DC and even flew up there to be with me. I was unable to be put to sleep during the procedure and my heart was ablated externally 30+ times. The pain was severe and Dr.… Belt put his hand on my shoulder during the whole procedure and never left my bedside in his attempt to comfort me. That's the Dr. Belt I know. In another procedure, I had a lung mass removed and a pacemaker lead placed on the outside of my heart through an 8in incision in my chest. It resulted in a chest tube and excruciating pain for 3 days straight. Dr. Belt was not the operating surgeon, but stopped in to see me following the operation and stayed by my bedside for 2+ hrs talking and comforting me. that is the Dr. Belt I know. Today I am 49 years old and my heart is pumping normally and I am as healthy as a 35 year old. My thanks goes out to Dr. Rob Belt for saving my life. That is the Dr. Belt I know!!

Little patient time, condesending. Funny if it wasn't for the over weight people and the smokers he probably would not make so much money. Very little bed side manner. Like the doctor who recommended him is just as poor. More patients than they have time for. Really irritating considering how much they make.
