I wouldn't be here without Dr. B!

My daughter had breast cancer in 2004. She went through chemo, a mastectomy and radiation for the next year. Then in 2011, she was diagnosed with cancer in the opposite breast AND a large sarcoma under her right arm. Her local oncologist who had treated her before basically told her that she was going to die. However, her surgeon was very optimistic and recommended that she go to MD Anderson in Houston TX. Upon her first visit with Dr. Benjamin, he assured her that her cancer was "very curable!" We almost did a dance right there in the examination room! He then asked what her doctor (at home) had told her? When we told him that she was told that she was going to die, Dr. Benjamin's exact words were, "Well, we're just going to have to prove him wrong." My daughter went through some VERY rough chemo for next several months and then a 14 hour surgery to remove the tumor and her breast. Today she is doing wonderful and we thank God for Dr. Benjamin and all of the medical team at MD… Anderson. We cannot say enough wonderful things about them. I highly recommend Dr. Benjamin and the other physicians and surgeons at MD Anderson.

There is a reason why Dr. Benjamin is rated #1 in US News and World Report: he's the best. My husband developed a sarcoma in his right arm out of the blue at the age of 43. He saw a highly reputable doctor (the chair of another sarcoma department) and was told that he would need an immediate amputation and that he had a dire and short future ahead of him. We saw Dr. Benjamin for a second opinion and he had a completely different approach and outlook. Today, my husband still has his right arm and it is fully functional. He is cancer free and expects to stay that way. To say that my husband and our entire family feel an enormous amount of gratitude toward Dr. Benjamin would be an incredible understatement. One caveat: Dr. Benjamin is busy and his waiting room is full. He will spend lots of time with you during the appointment and his communication is very straight and honest. However, getting a call back after that is difficult so come to appointments prepared with paper and… pen and your list of questions.
