Dr. Robert J Bernard, MD

Today was my first time seeing Dr. Bernard, but I had heard really good things about him prior. Staff was very nice and helpful. The doctor was like able, knowledgeable and seemed to really care about how I felt. He took his time explaining things to me and made sure I had no further questions. He did this despite a packed waiting room. The visit took longer than I would of preferred, but well worth it. After a string of disappointing practices this one seems like a keeper.

Outstanding doctor that’s really cares about a patient

I have been going to Dr Bernard since he opened his practice in Wading River. My medical history has been complicated over the years and Dr Bernard has worked hard to correct ALL OF MY mMANY PROBLEMS AS THEY DEVELOPED OVER THE YEARS. I know his wait time is long and I accept that because when it is my turn i know he will spend as much time as I need, I wont feel rushed out or leave without understanding what is going on with my situation. THANK YOU DR. BERNARD.

wouldn't dream of going anywhere else if in town..office staff kind/considerate/ready to help...no problem here...

Dr. Bernard is good but his staff is absolutely the worse. They never answer the phone and when they do they put you on hold forever. Trying to get them to call in a renewable prescription is another whole other matter, waited 3 days for that one even though they said the doctor had the message. Even trying to change an address is a nightmare, they say they change it and yet another statement comes to the wrong address. Loosing patience fast, I don't think I'll be staying much longer.

Today I saw Dr. Bernard for my regular monthly prescription refill. We were having a courteous and civil discussion until he blew his stack and threw me out of the office. I had only been with him under five minutes. Perhaps because there wasn't one seat open in his waiting room and I had to stand for close to an hour, he was very impatient and even rude with me. (Impatient with patients you could call it.) I've been a patient with his practice for 3 years and believe, whether you agree with a patient's perspective or not, that this is no way to treat anybody .. no less a patient. The women in the office, and Tom, the NP are great! I hope Dr. Bernard is nicer to them.

went to eye doctor told me my vison was due to extremely high blood said to go to emergency room or there is this doctor very close by they called dr bernards office ask them to see me right away bp 230 over 130 they said to come right down got there told bernards staff I was sent as an emergency patient, STAFF NEVER TOLD DOCTOR HAD ME WAIT 4 HOURS to be called in to be examined once dr Bernard got to see me was running all over giving me meds to get my bp stable would not let me leave until it went down. good doctor his office staff is the worst I have ever seen don't tell another doctor you will get me in as an emergency then take other patient there for routine checkups I almost died and I know dr Bernard saved me and is a very kind and listens to your complaints and resolves them. but his office staff has to go before someone dies as they are useless and should go back working statue as they don't move for anything but your payment. I feel very sorry for this doctor as he is a… nice man and may have problems getting good office help so if there is a good office manager that knows their stuff you should go there and put in an application because this guy is a good doctor, but a good leader is no good without troops that are good as well.

Horrible horrible doctor who my parents began to see when they moved to Middle Island from RIverhead. My father suffered for years from stomach issues and Dr. Bernard never found the problem, never sent him to specialists, etc. and eventually my father passed away from cancer in the lower intestines. My mother was injured in a car accident where she suffered spinal injuries. Dr. Bernard prescribed her whatever she wanted without ever going over side effects, or sending her to a specialist for her back and neck pain which has now become a spinal issue. She has gotten sick from all the meds. His office is terrible, and he never returns phone calls. You wait forever in his office and I found him to be incompetent. The latest issue he prescribed my mother sleeping pills while she is on other narcotics for pain, depression and blood pressure meds and she had a very bad reaction. I am currently trying to find my mother a new doctor before she dies as well.
