I received a 6 level lower sppinal fusion by Bess Sr. Turned out to be a disaster. Broken hardware and incompetent surgery. Ten years later had to be entirely redone with two added levels. Don't use the Sr. Bess unless you want your oil changed!

I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Bess and his staff. He is a fantastic surgeon! He saved me after years of chronic back pain. I have never felt better!!

I cant thank you enough doctor Bess. You took great care of me and must be an excellent surgeon because I healed up beautifully!! i have complete full use of my arm and shoulder. You were very kind, cared, and I thank you for all you did especially since I'm one of the poor people out there that usually get passed by from such a good surgeon. Thank you again

Severe pain after he fused my back8 years ago. Impinged nerves..no repair available. Not good surgeon. Didn't keep records. No recourse.

Just recommends surgery off the bat and improper diagnosis. Does not explain in depth anything and no follow up. Too much money for 5 minutes of advice. Avoid Get second opinion.

WAS A PATIENT WITH BESS FROM 2008 TILL 2010. GOING BACK I WISH I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN SECOND OPPPION BEFORE I EVER LET HIM TOUCH ME. HE NEEDS TO GIVE IT UP. THAT OFFICE IS A JOKE.RATING-0

I was told by another neurosurgeon that Dr J Bess destabilized my spine and increased the scoliosis cure 27 degrees in 7 months after the operation. I will end up in a wheel chair.His staff also failed to get authorization from Kaiser permanent for Xray that they would have turned down. Dr. J Bess refuses to pay for the unnecessary X-rays (could not have the operation he was going to perform on me) and is sticking me with the bill of $440. It's been a huge hassle in my life which I do not need.Stay far away from this guy. He's sloppy.

Dr. Bess has performed surgery for spinal fusion, a broken ankle and broken arm on me, plus a spinal fusion on my wife. Comprehensive followup, caring attitude, just the best of quality.
