Dr. Robert Jamison Blackwell, MD

I am a patient of Bert Blackwell, MD for over 2 years now. I have seen over a dozen other pain practitioners in the 29 years that I have been an intractable chronic pain patient. I happen to also hold a Masters in Nursing as well as a Doctorate in Pharmacology. I know my drugs. Because I have 2 very rare auto-immune diseases, degenerative joint & disc disease, severe arthritis, stenosis, disc prolapse & a host of other nasty diseases, I am never below a pain level of 4. Before Dr Bert I stayed at 6s & 7s daily & rarely ever used the power wheelchair I have been in since 1995. I stayed in bed. After Dr Bert took over I have gone back to raising orchid cactus, heirloom veggies, bird research & most importantly taking care of my nearly 5 year old granddaughter plus guardianship & caretaker for my 76 yo cousin & brother-in-law. I enjoy life, bought a new home on a creek & spend hours watching my 2 "kids" catch fish, cook, do anything that I couldn't do while under other physicians. We… use injections & Dr B has twice burrned the cervical nerves relieving 85% of that excruciating pain. We use medication as well. He has gone above & beyond in his care of me. I have NEVER seen a PA or nurse pract either. Even for medication refills I see him. I can not say enough good things about his care. He has always had time to talk with me & we have a level of communication I have only had with 2 other physicians who have died thus ending my care. I can imagine there are plenty of people who leave bad reviews because he is NOT "free" with prescriptions nor does he allow a patient to TELL him what they want. We discuss treatment options then act. I would follow him where ever he goes to have the expert care that I have enjoyed for over 2 years. I appreciate him, respect & trust him. He is an excellent physician!

This place has become a horrible nightmare and I am sorry I stayed as long as I did. I liked Dr. Vanterpool very much and after she left Dr. Blackwell replaced/bought out the practice. I stayed on. In the beginning he was ok he tried to get to know you and help with your pain - he was kind of snobby but I figure he was just stressed with it being new and all. NOT! This guy is rude and has no compassion. Than he starts to push you off to his PA's - at 1st it was fine because Virginia was super and better than him - but she quit. The next 2 - I couldn't even tell you their names - cause they quit too! actually everyone quit. Than the newbies came in the beginning of this year and OMG. The rudeness must bleed out. New PA Jen is a joke and he should really take note but doesn't. You can't see him to discuss your issues - your not allowed!! you just get more rudeness from the Receptionist/OM when you TRY to ask a question. Anyway I had to finally change doctors because of such a lack of… care. Do yourself a favor and do your research - I am sure it will NOT bring to this practice.

Have had several injections done by Dr. Blackwell. In my opinion, he is amazing. He has a wonderful bedside manner, always listens to what I say and recommends the best plan of action for my care. I trust him completely with my care and he has made this process so much easier, especially when you are in pain and need guidance.

i go to Dr. blackwell for pain magament. ive had injections, two back surgeries, and an additional two other back related procedures. he is the only doctor that ive been to who does not treat me like a drug seeker. he takes my concerns seriously and he is very courteous, kind, and upfront with me. i would highly recommend him to anyone in need of a pain management doctor.

MISDIAGNOSED & treated for it over and over. Then dropped when asked too many ?'S
