Dr. Robert Bonwetsch, MD

I have been a patient for 14+ years, no issues and the staff is great.

I was a patient for 8 years. This doctor for the first 4 years was pretty good, did what he was paid for, nothing special, doctors should do their job. He is arrogant, conceited, and tries to use charm as a psychological manipulation. He does not follow up on hospital emergency room visits. The best they could do was 3 months after an emergency room visit. Their office staff is rude, and make you feel like you are bothering them. They treat you like "manure". His new office manager got so mad that I questioned why I was being harassed so much, as I was paying $250 dollars per visit, (they no longer accepted my insurance), she got the doctor to sign a letter saying I was no longer to go there as I was "giving the staff" a hard time. This is squarely Dr. Bonswetch's problem. It's his name on the door, he owns part of the practice, and has decided to go the "most money for minimal visit" route. It's a shame, I once thought many years ago he was doing what he should do, but due… to the nature of my injury, I stayed with that office far too long, my bad. I had requested my medical records be sent to another Doctor, and it was a week after that they dismissed me from their practice. I had already decided to leave. Dr. Bonswetch sometimes works in the E>R. of Danbury Hospital. If I ever run into him, I will decline his services. I do not trust him, and do not wish to receive a separate bill for who knows how much from the E.R.. He is extremely arrogant, tries to disarm you with his "politeness", when in fact, he does not follow through on service. Having to wait 3 months to see him, especially after the acute conditions I have was the last straw. This is par for the course at Associated Neurologist, all the good doctors left there 20 years ago. This is how long I have been in and out of that practice. I will never return. Their closing the door on me was a blessing, though in fact I had fired him already. It's sad to see a good doctor debase himself. He says he's "christian", he says anything to try and hook you. I do not even think he understands his psychological manipulation, which was easily turned around on him. Until having to wait 3 months for a follow up, I would have continued going, but the game became dull, and "dumbing" down to see this doctor became tiring.

Dr. Bonwetsch came highly recommended, and was very knowledgeable about the seizure disorder that I have. However, to echo other reviews, I also had significant medication issues, which resulted in two ER visits, and several months of significant illness and missed work. He did not have time to see me in follow up. The PA was nice, but not able to make the needed changes. I think the practice is just too big and busy to allow time to problem solve. I am now with a neurologist in private, single practice, and the difference is remarkable. I am better than in years.

I have seen Dr Bonwetsch for over seven years and have complete confidence in his care. Unfortunatly my Insurance Co. no longer will allow me to see him, or at least will not pay for his services. I will miss Dr Bonwetsch.

i just started seeing the doc.and i love that he listens when you talk. he makes you feel at ease ,and he laughs,which you dont see very often in doctors.yes i would tell friends, family and anyone who needed a neurologist to see him .lucky to have him for my doctor.

Our son had a recent unexpected illness resulting in the need of a Neurologist - Dr. Bowetsch was (highly) recommended. He knew we were worried...he went above and beyond helping us feel better about the situation and what we were experiencing. He never rushed us, or made us feel like the question was unimportant.....

I had heard nothing but wonderful things about Dr Bonwetsch. My husband and I met with him and he is very friendly and very knowledgeable. When I began a transition with a new medication I had some issues with it. I called the office and I guess he was on vacation so I got blown off and bounced around to different Dr's on staff. Some of which couldn't give me clear answers and in some cases my calls were never even returned. The medical secretary who worked for Dr Bonwetsch was very apologetic but disorganized and lacked concern. During a very serious time my questions were not answered and the attentiveness was very very poor. I was left hanging and in a vulnerable situation. I know it wasn't the Doctors fault for going on vacation, but the office and the medical practice is obviously very disorganized. They can't keep up with their patients phone calls. Tonight I made an urgent call on their after hours line with an important matter. I was rushed off the phone and barked at by the… medical secretary. who had no interpersonal skills. She was so rude I was almost in tears. After tonight's incident I just can't bring myself to return to a practice like that. Dr B is very good at what he does but the assisting staff has been a nightmare that I am no longer willing to deal with. I am returning to my Neurologist in Greenwich even though it's more expensive...I'll pay to be treated with care and respect.

In my opinion this doctor is terrific and excellent with all age patients. Never had a doctor with better bed side manner who seemed this brillant.

When you have an allergic reaction to a prescribed medication, you don't want to see his P.A. .... Nor do you wish to be directed to the E.R. ...and you certainly do not deserve to have to wait 4 days for an appointment! I never heard from him......guess his staff never notified him that I had an allergic reaction to the drug. After only 1 EEG, my new doc said she saw 'something'...but after 2 EEG's with my old doc, nothing was found.
