Robert E. Bristow, M.D. is welcomed by Long Beach Memorial as the medical director of gynecologic oncology at the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute (TCI). Recognized internationally as an expert in the surgical treatment of ovarian cancer, Dr. Bristow received his medical degree from the University of Southern California, completed his residency in gynecology and obstetrics at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and his fellowship training in gynecologic oncology at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine/Cedars Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Bristow has authored a textbook on his specialty and published numerous articles and studies in peer-reviewed journals.

I had choices, I chose doctor Bristow! Best choice of my life. Every procedure was textbook. I couldn’t have been more comfortable in my choice during this process. My surgery scars are minimal. My recovery remarkable. I rang the cancer bell in 2 weeks after surgery. A wonderful experience with really no worries.

I think his busy schedule and ego got in the way of my care. My slides were never sent to the designated pathologist. As a result I had more extensive surgery due to a misdiagnosis--this was never acknowleged or followed up by Dr. Bristow. He ignored important factors in my medical history, and I was administered contraindicated drug during and after surgery. He's personable and patient --at first--unless you disagree with him.

I just had a major operation. Dr. Bristow was so great. He has a great bedside manner and is really funny. He cares very much about his patients . He is very professional and amazing at his craft.I highly recommend him as a physician.

What a great Dr! Worked with our step mother,greatly improved her quality of life! Brilliant compassionate + genuine! He's the BEST. He also took our sister asone of his last patients even though it was a time crunch,that's just another of his fine qualities!
