Dr. Robert R Bulger, MD

Dr. Bulger is the best! He takes time to listen and treats you with compassion! I highly recommend him! Everyone who works for him are top notch! My first appointment with him after my mother’s passing from a 22 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease, he was so very kind and truly cared! It’s things like that that really make him a great doctor! I will be forever grateful for him!

I noticed all the less than stellar reviews on Dr. Bulger and his office. I've had no real issues since I started seeing him as my pain management doctor a year ago. I love the staff. I love Dr. Bulgers no sugar coating approach. My only complaint would be appointment reminders. His office doesnt do that. Sometimes I forget. I try not to but I'm human. Beyond this. I love his office.

I traveled 1000 miles to have my 5 Level Disco-Gram performed by Dr Bulger, at the end of the day what matters is Skill-set. If I or any family needed a procedure done I would want Dr Bulger holding the Needle. My pain was at a minimum, and actually the mattress at my hotel caused way more pain then the procedure. Maybe when Dr Bulgar can work part time if he retires to Krypton.

This is an excellent doctor...takes his time and cares...lets you know what's going on with your problem...finds solutions and keeps you in the loop

It is a real headache working with this physician. Communication between his staff and he is very poor. At least the excuse I heard for not having information and not getting things done. I would email questions and concerns and I would wait a full 24 hours for a response. I would have to contact the office over and over. For someone who deals with people in pain this is unacceptable. I also felt like Dr. Bulger didn't take the few minutes needed to trat me appropriately as a pt. I had to slow him down on several occasions just to get him to address my concerns.

Overall, it's possible years ago Dr. Bulger may have been an alright doctor - he has good schooling and credentials but that's where it all ends. I've never been to a worse doctor - or been anxious about going to a doctors office for an appointment - but after going to Dr. Bulger for a period of time, I saw and experienced things that should never happen at a doctors practice/office. Patients including myself would wait hours to be seen by the doctor - he was notoriously late not just for 1 or 2 appointments but I'd estimate an average of 50% of the time, Dr. Bulger was running late and sometimes you would wait up to 2-4 hours to be seen. I felt sorry for patients that were in excruciating pain just struggling to make it until they could talk to Dr. Bulger. More than anything, I think what upsets me the most about what I experienced was that patients weren't treated like human beings. He didn't care about his patients at all - and neither did much of his staff except for a few kind… people. There was an overall environment (established by Dr. Bulger) which was embraced by most of his staff - that the patients were only there to get medication. There was no real concern for patients and what they were going through - it was all about getting the money and pushing through all the appointments that had been booked. I overheard a conversation where Dr. Bulger told a staff member "you've got to watch her, you know how she is and what she wants" I heard several similar conversations plus one where he was trying to convince his banker into giving him a bridge - loan for his business - which should have been a private matter. Dr. Bulger spent little time actually in the room talking with me or listening to my concerns or symptoms - while most of the time was spent trying to get the technology he was using (that visit) to work so he could record your appointment. He would always go in and out of the room during your visit asking his medical assistants to help him figure out what was wrong. There was only one appointment that I felt like I had his attention and that he was trying to help me. Many of my appointments were with his PA or medical assistants because he was running late. I never felt like I had a comprehensive plan to get better. There were several times that I went to my doctors appointment with Dr. Bulger that something dramatic took place - altercations, upset patients venting in the lobby, the other doctor in the practice upset - plus much more. There was rarely a smooth quick appointment. I would like to mention that there were a few staff members in Dr. Bulger's office (like the receptionist) that tried her best to make things better. In summary, the reason that I've written this review is to help other people that are suffering from pain problems and that are looking for a good specialist to help them get better. In my opinion, I wouldn't consider this doctor, (based on the job he did for me) because I'm not confident in his expertise or that he cares about his patients and helping make their futures bright.

Very understanding, caring and compassionate. Great bedside manner

I had two separate multi level spinal injection procedures performed by Dr. Bulger. One with anesthesia (administered by his nurse anesthetist) and one with just a local. I found Dr Bulger and his staff to be very professional, pleasant and informative.

Dr. Bulger is always very helpful regarding my condition. He is very empathic regarding my pain, which is caused by multiple level DDD, multiple bulging disks, and two disks with tears, along with a herniated disk pushing on left L5.
