Dr. Robert Schaub Callahan, MD

I have been seeing Dr. Callahan for over 2 years now and he is not only a great family physician but a compassionate person who really listens to my thoughts before helping me decide on a treatment plan. I will continue having him as my pcp.

I was a patient of dr Callahan for years and in my time under his care I got continued suspicions of his neglect to the details of his job...prior to my visit in Jan 2019 it had been 3 years since I even seen him for a physical but do to the fact I needed a referral to see a specialist and he was still listed as my PCP I chose to make an appt with him instead of a new patient one with a new dr that would’ve pushed me out too far....in my fairly lengthy history of being a patient I’ve been sick/injured very view times but it seems every time that I do need medical attention the treatment is careless and irresponsible....on my last visit prior to this year’s fiasco I saw him because I was hit by a car while walking I told him it didn’t feel unstable Nd wasn’t all that painful Ndbut it still was the part that got the most damage and he didn’t even bother ordering an X ray just gave me a couple days off from work....then in the present I saw him for a referral and cus I had a terrible… chest cold that made it difficult to sleep and made my voice hoarse wit a terrible cough to match he prescribe me Promethazine DM after I told him I was already taking Robotussin max and Mucinex. Once I got to the pharmacy and realized he sent me a DM medication and learning from the Pharmacist that DM is pretty much equivalent to the OTC cough medicines I’ve been taking prior to seeing him I called his office and told them i didn’t want that I needed somethin stronger. A staff member called me back the next day saying Dr Callahan prescribed me the step up from the DM version which has codeine in it so I had to come in to pick it up due to it being considered a controlled substance. When I arrived to pick it up the staff member looks my info up finds my prescription and hands it to me but it’s written for Robotussin with codeine and i told them this isn’t what I was told to come get they told me well this is what Dr Callahan decide to give u and then after leaving the office which was closing I left a VM to express my frustration wit the whole situation just to receive a phone call from the Dr directly to tell me how I haven’t been there in 3 years ect and then eventually the exchange led to DR Callahan tellin me I would receive a letter stating I have to find a new dr within 30 days and then hanging up on me. All in the meantime I’m still battling the same sickness and symptoms I was seen for....upon calling the office the next day to see if he would at least correct this issue since we done with our patient dr relationship after that visit I was called back by a staff member who basicly told me that’s what the dr decided to give me so take it or leave then she also hung up in my ear I’ve never been so confused as to how I’m wrong for not accepting just any medication despite what I was told by someone’s mouth. Then I’m also totally confused as to how a dr makes a decision to give u any meds for any reason and not explain or inform u about it explain when one medicine not even being the same as the original I feel that’s very irresponsible as a DR and shows no real concern for people’s well-being...I can’t help but hold the sneaky suspicion that they wanted me to take a medication that wouldn’t help so I would have to return and have another office visit ect and this is even more frustrating cus now I have to find another dr set another appt and hope the sickness I have doesn’t worsen

Literally the worst doctors office in Delaware, doesn't communicate well with patients, doesn't have a flexible schedule and the office staff is very rude and uneducated

Dr. Callahan is a wonderful caring person who happens to have a medical degree. He is a kind, calming and humble man. He is very personable and possesses a considerate bedside manner not easily found in his profession. He is actually practicing medicine - with standards and high ideals - not running a medical clinic. Dr. Callahan is also very generous with his time with patients. Knowing him makes me think highly of doctors.

Staff isn't friendly at all. wait time is long and when you do get in to a room your wating another 15 to 30 mins for him and his staff are rude and uncaring.

Dr. Callahan is concerned about your overall health and welfare, not just your current problem.

Dr. Callahan is a great Doc.
