Dr. Carey was very patient and concerned when I consulted with him about a recently diagnosed renal cancer. He explained everything in a way I could comprehend and was very clear on the options of treatment. I feel confident that he will be an excellent surgeon and provide good care.

Dr. Carey appears to be a talented surgeon but has no interest in his patients’ wellbeing. In my case his part of surgery appears to have worked quite well but there has been a mistake during the surgery that led to massive blood loss. The loss of blood manifested itself during recovery and continued for two days after the procedure itself. Yet, Dr. Carey and along with him all physicians at Sarasota Memorial Hospital showed almost no interest. Dr. Carey told my wife after the procedure that "there was almost no blood loss" and he told me the next morning that the surgery "succeeded in a spectacular way". Yet after 5 days in hospital in Sarasota I had to go to emergency room in another hospital where they detected a massive blood clot. Recovery has been long and painful and continued for months after Carey’s procedure. As a result of Dr. Carey’s lack of interest in patient care his staff behaves the same: long waiting times his scheduler will misinform and outright lie to you.

Not only a MD, but also Ph.D. I would give him the highest rating. Caring, compassionate, knowledgeable. The absolute best. In addition, he is a leader in robotic surgery.

Dr. Carey is not only an expert in his field but a kind & passionate individual! One never feels as though you are one of many. Dr. Carey makes you feel as though you are his only patient. If I ever left the state of Florida and needed an urologist, I’d move back in a heartbeat if needed to have him as my surgeon.

Wonderful experience, everything a patient would want in a doctor.

My experience was simply fantastic. Dr. Carey did not rush me into a surgical option, yet when there was no other choice the outcome was better than I anticipated. I have zero issues with any part of my treatment.

Dr. Carey performed robotic prostate surgery for Gleason 7 cancer. There were none of the common side effects. Subsequent testing revealed no evidence of cancer returning. I am grateful for Dr. Carey's superb skill and genuine caring.
