Dr. Robert Earl Carlson, MD

Robert Carlson was completely rude and unprofessional. My wife was I’m so much pain from the calcific tendinitis in her shoulder and wasn’t getting anywhere with a previous medical provider so we sought a second opinion. We were just looking for some kind of plan of action. An operation, steroids, physical therapy. Anything that would help. He laughed and ridiculed us for seeking a second opinion. He was rude and discourteous. He asked who her previous physician was and laughed again. He made my wife who was already in a lot of physical pain cry right there in the office after he laughed at her. This jerk deserves to be reprimanded and fired. He took an oath to do no harm and he makes people suffering feel worse with ridicule and laughter. This guy is a complete jerk. Beware, Robert Carlson is an abhorrent human being. Avoid at all costs. I’m also referring our treatment to the state attorney general and medical board.

Terrible experience. He was extremely abrasive and full of himself. Minimized everything I said and flat out disrespected what I do for a living. DO NOT GO SEE HIM

He was so abrasive and just minimized all my pain. He seemed full of himself and like he didn't care about me at all. I will never go back.

After one month from a fall and still a swollen ankle decided to go see a foot doctor. Saw Dr. Carlson who reviewed my x-ray, which was taken the day after I fell at urgent care. Looked at the X-ray and said looks like no fracture, it will just take time. He actually said I could still try to run and do my normal active activities! I kept the ace bandage on my foot and went about my business, which later I realized I probably made it worse because of Dr. Carlson's advice. Found out two months after I saw Dr. Carlson, (3 months after I fell) when I saw a different doctor, who ordered an MRI that I had a torn ligament, torn/split tendon and will need surgery. I felt like Dr. Carlson just wanted me in and out of his office!!! He made it seem like I was making a big deal out of my swollen ankle!

Dr. Carlson's staff was very pleasant and helpful. The waiting area was very clean and you could tell the staff took time to keep it that way. However, Dr. Carlson's manner and attitude were awful. He walked in the exam room with a scowl on his face and asked me what was going on with my knee. When I started to tell him what I was feeling, he began to make a face as if he either didn't believe me or he was confused about what I was saying; he did this frequently throughout the rest of my visit. When I told him I had been seen by the VA for the same thing and was referred to him by the VA, he began to bad-mouth VA physicians. I have never felt so uncomfortable in a doctor's office.

I have seen dr Carlson since 2001 when I got hurt on the job. My experience with him and his staff was excellent. He listens and cares about his patients. I have seen him on a few occasions over the years and I have always been treated with compassion. That is very important to me. He is a great surgeon, I would recommend him highly.
