Summary

My Practice Philosophy

As an emergency medicine physician, I enjoy providing the best medical care possible. My goal is to treat you with the same compassion and care as I would my own family, and treat you as I would want to be treated. You should expect to be treated by excellent nurses, physicians and staff. In addition, our computer network allows a thorough knowledge of your past medical history which facilitates efficient and safe medical care. Sometimes your stay in the emergency department is longer than you and I would like, but many patients require multiple tests, evaluations, key decision points and interpretations. Additionally a sicker patient with a life-threatening condition may further delay your disposition.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

I went on to residency at the University of Arizona, again had the opportunity for medicine in Nepal, and had the experience of working in many different emergency departments. Some of these experiences caused me to search for a large medical group that was overall most committed to treating patients, that offered all the diagnostic tests and treatment modalities in the emergency department to allow for a complete evaluation and treatment of the patient. This coupled with the committed staff and physicians that I met led me to join the Sacramento/Roseville emergency department group at Kaiser Permanente in 2000.

My Personal History

When I was fifteen, I was fortunate to spend several months in Europe. In addition to teaching me that contrary to my beliefs, I did not have the world figured out at age fifteen, the experience also instilled in me a strong interest in other cultures, worldviews and countries that would provide the basis for the years to come. During medical school I had the opportunity to become quite involved in medicine in quite remote areas, including the medicine practice in northern Thailand/southern Burma and Nepal. I formed an extremely strong bond with the people of Nepal and was fortunate to return several times from extremely remote western Nepal, to the touristed and famed Khumbu.

Eat well, exercise daily, don't smoke or engage in drugs or war, wear your seat belt, use medications as prescribed, maximize your time with your family and friends who want you to succeed and be happy. Travel when possible and enjoy life. Live your life with passion.

My interests outside of medicine include traveling, cycling, and mountaineering.
