Dr. Robert Bruce Cowan, MD

Because of Dr. Cowan’s dangerous prescribing, I now have to undergo heart surgery. From 2011 to 2014, he prescribed me a daily dose of an ADHD stimulant that was four times the FDA’s recommended maximum for adults. At age 43, I’ve developed atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter — serious heart conditions that multiple cardiologists have traced to the damage from that extreme dosage. When I reported high blood pressure during treatment, Dr. Cowan laughed and blamed my weight, completely ignoring the known cardiovascular risks of the drug he was overprescribing. He showed no understanding of stimulant safety and absolutely should not be allowed to prescribe them — especially at high, unethical doses. A man in Vermont died while on the same 160 mg daily dose I was prescribed. In that case, his psychiatrist was sanctioned and fined. Dr. Cowan followed the same reckless pattern, and I worry he is still doing this to other patients.

I know it's been a while since you have seen me last. I would schedule an appt but I don't have enough money right now. I was wondering if you could prescribe me the 2mg Klonopin that you have before?
