Practice Overview
Dr. Robert R. Cowie believes that every patient is an individual. Aside from the clinical aspect of every mouth being different, he  understands that every patient is different. He gets to know his patients- their backgrounds, their previous experiences,  and their expectations.  He takes the time to LISTEN, and to educate every patient. Throughout treatment and throughout life, Dr. Cowie is there for his family of patients.
In addition to a full range of cosmetic and restorative dentistry, Dr. Cowie has been treating patients suffering from painful temporomandibular joint dysfunction, sleep apnea (without uncomfortable machines), and treating tooth loss with dental implants.
As always, staying on top of the latest research, new treatments, and new products is a must. Dr. Cowie was the first dentist in Jacksonville to put an intraoral camera to use in his practice, and the second in the area to upgrade to better quality digital X-rays. Providing the most  up-to-date treatments and services gives Dr. Cowie the ability to better protect his patients' health. After all, he wants the best for his 'dental family'.
In addition to providing exceptional, state-of-the-art dental care, Dr. Cowie has maintained lifelong relationships with his  patients. Many have been under his care for 30 years, followed by the loyalty of their children, and their children's children. Newer patients receive the same care and respect as his lifelong patients. The greatest compliment we regularly receive is our patients' referrals of  family and loved ones.
Dr. Cowie believes that communication is the key to successful treatment. Starting with the initial visit, Dr. Cowie takes the time to talk with his patients about their prior experiences and their expectations for future dental care. He makes time to get to know his patients personally, taking their needs, wants and limitations into consideration when making recommendations. He will discuss options with the patient and work with them to achieve their goals, as well as helping them to maintain their optimum oral health for years to come.
Dr. Cowie has been in practice in the same location for 30 years. He is a 1976 graduate of Northwestern University Dental School, attending as a recipient of a U.S. Naval scholarship. Following four years of active duty in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps, he began practicing in Jacksonville. He is a member of the ADA, American Equilibration Society, American and Florida Academies of Dental Practice Administration, Pierre Fauchard Academy and Toastmaster's International. He is a Fellow in the AGD
