Dr. Robert M Cristal, PhD

Dr. Robert M. Cristal is a New York State-licensed clinical psychologist with more than 30 years of experience in the field of mental health. He specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Stress Management and Relaxation Therapy, Marriage Counseling, and Clinical Hypnosis. In addition to his New York licensure, he is also licensed in Florida to provide telehealth psychological services to patients in the state.

Dr. Cristal’s telehealth practice focuses on treating adults and seniors through individual psychotherapy, couples or marriage therapy, and family therapy. He began his career in a hospital setting, working in the areas of medical psychology and general psychiatry, before developing a full-time private practice. Over the years, he has also served on the medical staff of several Long Island hospitals and held a faculty appointment as an Associate Professor of Psychology at Long Island University.

As a CBT therapist, Dr. Cristal works to help patients find relief …from emotional distress and self-defeating patterns of behavior. His approach is solution-focused and designed to help individuals improve their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in meaningful ways. He treats a wide range of concerns, including panic and anxiety, anger, OCD, ADHD, relationship difficulties, and psychological stress, with the goal of improving quality of life.
