"I absolutely love my job.  I had no idea when I began over 30 years ago how much I would enjoy our patients, the wonderful families I would meet, and the lifelong friendships I would develop.  Providing dental care is an honor, and just plain fun.
My main objectives when providing dental care are Kindness, Consideration, and Compassion.  I recognize how hard it can be to be a dental patient, and I work very hard to meet and exceed patient expectations.

Dr. Robert Dean’s dedication to the practice of dentistry and desire to create a compassionate dental home for patients of all ages motivated him to …open his practice in Southcenter in 1980. Over the past 30 years, Dean Family Dentistry has become one of the premier family dental practices in South King County. From his first day, Dr. Dean has been committed to treating every patient like family. His attentiveness to each patient, gentleness during procedures, and integrity in all aspects of care set him apart. He endeavors to provide consideration for patient desires, specific needs, and questions regarding treatment by providing customized care to optimize each patient’s oral health.
Education and Continuing Education
Dr. Dean earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Washington where he was honored with awards in Endodontics and Prosthodontics, as well as being voted into membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the pre-eminent dental honor society.
Dr. Dean’s passion for life-long learning and desire to remain on the cutting edge of dentistry has resulted in hundreds of hours of post-graduate study in some of the finest study clubs and academies in the nation, including the John Kois Center, Frank Spear’s original Achieving Restorative Excellence Study Club, and the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Training in St. Petersburg, Florida.
His continuing education includes 30 years of experience in study clubs focusing on cosmetic dentistry and full-mouth rehabilitation in addition to extensive training in the restoration of dental implants, endodontics and root canal treatment, the diagnosis and treatment of TMJ pain, and the dental treatment of sleep apnea. Dr. Dean is a founding and 30 year member of Alpine Dental Study club, a graduate of the John Kois Center, and a member of the American Dental Association.
Dr. Dean’s clinical excellence and commitment to these values have prompted his peers to vote him as one of Seattle’s Top Dentists in Seattle Magazine in 2006, and Seattle Metropolitan Magazine in 2010 and 2011.  He is truly a dentist to whom other dentists would take their family for treatment.
In the Community
Dr. Dean has used his knowledge, skills, and compassion to serve thousands in his practice and the community at large. He is an active volunteer with Medical Teams International, providing free dental care to underserved children through their mobile outreach program. Presently his favorite volunteer service is working the Medical Teams International dental van at Cancer Lifeline, providing much needed dental care for cancer patients. For over 15 years Dr. Dean has also opened his office to children and teens affected by the nuclear disaster in Chernobyl, providing free yearly care through the charity For the Children of the World.
