Dr. Robert James Denton, MD

I presented to the ER at the recommendation of the PA at AFC Urgent Care in Fuquay. I had failed first line treatment off for a middle ear infection, had a fever and had developed swelling on my face. Dr. Denton acted as if I didn’t need to be there. He was unnecessarily rough during the exam. He shoved the otoscope into my extremely swollen ear (so swollen I was having to use a wick to get drops in) and when I cried and begged him to stop he verbally told me I was being “a little dramatic”. He then told me that I was making treatment options difficult by having so many allergies to medications and that I most likely wasn’t allergic to those drugs. I have been told to list those as allergies by other physicians. I didn’t just decide to assign myself allergies. While giving me my results he said verbatim, “You were so dramatic during the exam that it led to a lot of unnecessary blood work and testing.” The CT showed cellulitis in my face so I wouldn’t think the testing was negative or… unnecessary as it clearly indicated the need for a different antibiotic. Dr. Denton needs to quit if he has no capability for having compassion and empathy for his patients. I am a registered nurse in NC and I have never seen a doctor any more rude or condescending as Dr Denton was. This region has too many medical facility options to be treated this way. Doctors shouldn’t be doctors if they are going to be irritated by the patients they are trained to treat. Truly terrible experience

He is a great docter who works at a great hospital!
