Summary
Dr. Detrich received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland Dental School in 1972. After graduating, he spent 2 years working with the Indian Health division of the United States Public Health Service in Oklahoma. From 1974 until 1976 he was the Head of the Department of Dentistry at Mid-Maine Medical Center in Waterville, Maine where he ran a federal program for disadvantaged children. During this time he was also an associate instructor at Westbrook School of Dental Hygiene in Portland, Maine and an associate professor at Tuft’s University School of Dentistry. For the 1976-77 school year he was an associate professor of Pediatric Dentistry at the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry in Richmond, Virginia.
