Dr. Robert Bernard Devney, MD

He was late to all appointments. In one case he arrived to the waiting room from outside chatting and laughing with a tray of coffees for staff while our young patient sat there scared for an extra :20 minutes already concerned about a psychiatric visit. Devney was not careful -- he had not reviewed other tests sent by our M.D. In sessions, he made frequent mistakes referring to previous discussion points incorrectly -- he was not listening, took poor notes, had not reviewed his notes, or simply chose to interpret those facts to support what seems to be a pre-canned ADHD diagnosis without specifics. Whether our child has ADHD or not, our child believes s/he does now after a :30 lecture.

Have been working with him for our son for the past two years. He is approachable and easy to work with. Never had billing problems, and if he is running late, it is normally because he was spending extra time with a patient.

I am disgusted with the billing at this office. I was sent to collections by this office for someone elses bill. I have never been to Washington, nor have I ever met Dr Devney. Someone else wrote my name as the person to be billed for their services. I never knew about this until three years later when it appeared on my credit report. I tried contacting their collection agency and they won't even listen to me. I disputed the claim and my dispute was denied. I don't understand how some woman can put my name on their bill when I was not aware of it and did not give neither written or verbal consent to be financially repsonsible. This is fraud!! Doctor's should be helping people, not charging someone else and ruining their credit because they don't want to charge the person who actually signed their "legally binding" agreement.

We have seen Dr. Devney for years, and he is like a family member to us. He is very caring and compassionate, and his knowledge in the field is unsurpassed. In addition to being a psychiatrist, Dr. Devney is also a medical doctor. He is the medication doctor for the UW autism clinic and was also the staff psychologist with the transplant team at Fred Hutchinson, so he has had experiences that most other doctors have not. He will be sadly missed by our family when he retires. One note about being "chronically late"-he is "chronically late" because he deals with patients with ADD and he takes time to really be with patients.

My son was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia by other professionals. Our interaction with Dr. Devney was very unsatisfactory and we came away with the strong feeling he didn't like or connect with our child at all. He didn't even mention dyslexia, which many kids with ADHD also have concurrently. Very unhelpful, very unpleasant man. We won't be back.

Excellent doctor as noted above. Be aware that appointments can only be made Monday through Thursday. You rarely get a human on the telephone, but they are good about responding to voice messages. Chronically late in seeing patients, usually 20-30 minutes late. Still, it is worth the hassle since he is so good with my child and with me.
