Dr. Robert Dombrowski, MD

Dr Dombrowski performed at hip replacement surgery for me Oct 2022 at Fairfax Surgical Center. I had a good result and a quick recovery. He is kind, answering all my questions. I can recommend him highly.

Quite simply, I can say without any reservations that Dr. Dombrowski is the very best orthopedic doctor! One year ago he replaced my left knee and this has, to my amazement, given me back a full, joy-filled, and pain-free life. Gardening, hikes, traveling overseas, and exploring the world on adventures with my grandchildren are all possible again because of his care. He treats each patient with a personalized plan and tremendous patience, and is dedicated to achieving the best possible outcome. After his outstanding surgery, his excellent physical therapy team completes the recovery process with the same dedication, skill, and patience. A previous hip replacement by a different surgeon had left me with a pronounced limp which I thought would be permanent. With tremendous skill and expertise, Dr. Dombrowski and his therapist, Karrie Giger-Trotman, were able to eliminate this limp through physical therapy alone, an outcome other doctors told me was probably impossible even through… further surgery. I trust Dr. Dombrowski and Karrie completely and recommend them with the very highest praise to anyone needing orthopedic help.

The best doctor with miracle hands and calmness when explaining my issues and how he will proceed with making me whole again. I have had three surgeries over the past 18 years with him and all were with a feeling of being in good hands thru the complete process including recovery. His PT team is also amazing and listens to your concerns.

Dr. Dombrowski was attentive and caring when working with my 7 year old daughter. She came in afraid of getting a cast and left confident that she could be successful. He was willing to talk us through the steps and educate. What a gentleman! My daughter is looking forward to returning for her follow up appointment.

Worst experience ever! After surgery, never heard or seen from him again. In fact, he apparently left the practice immediately after my surgery.

I have been treated by several surgeons and Dr. Dombrowski is a fabulous surgeon. His skill level is superb, his companion is evident and his down to earth approach is far and above others I have used. I have sought him out after he left his other practice because of how good he is. I highly recommend him.

Dr Dombrowski is an outstanding physician and has been my orthopedist for 17 years. He is amazingly knowledgeable and considerate, always taking time to talk to me about his diagnoses and treatments. I love that surgery is not his default answer to every condition. And when surgery is called for, he is absolutely professional and talented. My whole family calls him our #1 doctor and I heartily recommend him to anyone needing a highly qualified orthopedist.

I have known Dr Dombrowski for 20 years now. Met him in the Inova Fair Oaks Hospital emergency room back in 1999 when a family member took a fall from a step ladder breaking both wrists. He was called in to assess the injuries and became the attending physician. He followed the case and delivered exception service which eventually required the installation of a plate. For myself, as an avid runner, I have had knee issues on and off for over 40 years. In 2007 when I blew out my left knee, I went back to him because I was most impressed with how he handled my family members previous injuries. He got me in for an immediately diagnosis and subsequent reconstructive surgery. In 2012 my other knee went out and again, I received immediate care and repair. This past year, with neck and right knee issues I have again sought him out, this time driving more than an hour to seek his services. I find him to be a most knowledgeable, proficient and personable medical professional and… surgeon. He takes time with his patients, explains what is going on and provides options to address your orthopedic issues. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone as your primary care physician for orthopedic issues or to get a second opinion.

Dr. Dombroski replaced my left knee. I never felt rushed during the office visits and he answered all of my questions. Unlike another surgeon that I had visited, I never felt like just another number with him. I like that he is willing to use the more advanced technologies. My husband used him for shoulder surgery and I've sent a friend to him as well.

My wife, Lyn, has had 5 joint replacements done by Dr. Dombrowski. She would not consider using anyone else. He has done both her knees(one just this month to replace a partial replacement) and both hips. In each case, he has treated her like a member of his family. His surgical techniques are superior. We have never had a single complication or infection after surgery. Her rehab time has always been minimal and Dr. Dombrowski has always followed up in person and by phone for each. We now live in Williamsburg, VA, 130 miles from the doctor's McLean offices, but would not consider seeing any other orthopaedic specialist.
