Dr. Robert S Ettinger, MD

Dr. Bob and Dr Ron treated my son in Columbia ,S.C over 30 yrs ago . He was the very best pediatric Oncologist in my opinion in the world ! I hope he sees this post The patient was Chris Jenkins diagnosed on Christmas Day 1988

Amazing Doctor

Dr. Bob, as you learn if you are unfortunate enough to have a child with a cancer diagnosis, is an outstanding physician. The long and the short of our experience is that he knew enough about his field and my son's condition as it presented, to suggest that it might be a lymph condition, but something short of cancer. Dr. Bob helped us find the physician that knew more about the posited condition than anyone else in the nation, and this doctor made the recommendation to wait and watch, before treating., despite the earlier diagnosis. Thankfully, my son has had no problems since. It turns out that a new genetic screening test that was conducted concluded the condition was a lymphoma, when in fact it was a condition called lymphomatoid papulosis. Dr. Bob's special talent was in working with us to do further investigation before beginning chemotherapy. He helped us work through our options and investigate further. Without Dr. Bob's extensive knowledge, my son would have received… chemo, and that, of course, could have brought with it serious problems. Dr. Bob is simply the best. He and his support staff walked with me all along the path we were on, and in the end, allowed us to walk away. We can't thank Dr Bob, or Gunderson Clinic, enough.

Dr. Ettinger is inaccessable to parents who have need to understand what their child is facing. He never made time to conference with us on possible treatments for our child nor explained how any of these treatments might affect our child. He seemed to avoid us, because our child had a poor prognosis for any type of recovery. We feel we were deliberately mislead - worse was our child was mislead in his conversations with our child. Parents and children need the whole truth at this most shocking time when their child is diagnosed with cancer. Dr. Ettinger was unable and unwilling to provide this for her. In hind-sight, we wish we had gone elsewhere - to never have had any dealings with this doctor.

THIS MD IS VERY GOOD WITH THE KIDS AND THE PARENTS! COULDN'T ASK FOR A BETTER DOCTOR FOR MY CHILD
