Therapy appointment was for 40 minutes exactly, at $40 co pay, that is $1 minute. They booked me 5 appointments costing $200. At my therapist appointment Saw Dr Galak in waiting room wanted to say HI to him and was informed it would cost me $40 if I spoke one word with him, including Hi! Cancelled all the five future therapy appointments, spent the money on lunch in Saks, Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor then got very nice clothes there. And that’s far much better than paying $1 minute and can’t say one sentence beyond your allotted 40 minutes. Met nice people in these clothes so it was worth using my money wisely. There is no place to park. The MD was very nice and caring but the silly office rules are about making money.

On my sons first and only visit he explained to the dr that he had severe panic attacks.. for over 17 years. He had been diagnosed by “real psychiatrists” at New York Presbyterian Columbia and had been seeing them all these years for medication management. Looking for a “dr” closer to home he went to see Galak. He turned him away and said that he could not treat him and that he should go to rehab!?!? What! He made it clear in the medical records that I later read that my son was lying about his diagnosis and was “addicted”.... this medication was prescribed to him over 15 years ago and it is the only medicine that stops the panic attacks. Now his records read that he is some sort of drug addict. How do you get that off his records?? Is this guy serious? If he is so afraid to prescribe medication that is the gold standard for panic attacks he should of gone into another profession. He told my son to go to a “rehab”!?!? I should of known by reading other reviews that said that he judges… patients for needing medication that helps them function. Please don’t go to this guy... not only a waste of time but very disappointing that I person with a true condition can be judged like that.

My experience with Dr Galak some appts feel like 5 mins there actually not more like 20 mins He asks how my weekly sessions are, offers holistic alternatives to relieve stress. I’ve complained about some side effects of medications and we’ve adjusted. He answers all my questions regarding meds, how I’m handling the process of grief I could go on, he is the type of person you click with or you don’t I hope those who didn’t care for him found someone they did click with

When I hit my lowest point, the doctor and his amazing staff would get me in within 24 hours. He actually listens to what you have to say.

It’s unfortunate to see these negative reviews on Dr. Galak. I’m not sure about other people’s experience with him and his staff but he has been a godsend for me. I was in a bad place with my previous doctor and Dr Galak has helped to ween me of the poison I was taking and put me on the proper meds/dosage. His staff is helpful and Dr Galak is a tremendous doctor!

This doctor is terrible!!! I asked him advice with the medication I was taking and all he did was grunt and nod and up the dosage. That happened for two years, thinking I had no other choice, I kept seeing him and feeling worse and worse. Ends up that he had he on two medications that made my condition worse and more extream!! The last straw is when I had to cancel an appointment last minute and had to pay $100 for it I paid and rescheduled for the next day at 9:15am. I was called at 9:10am to be told he canceled the appointment last minuet after I drove an hour and a half to get to the office. The next week I made a new appointment and was stuck in traffic. Called the office saying I was going to be late. They said, ok we will tell the doctor. I get there and the receptionist says I can't see the doctor because I was 10 minutes late. I was furious! I have been through so much and all I wanted to do was get my medication renewal and leave! Dr Galak came out and said "Oh well, you need… to be on time." And walked away. They refused to have my medication refilled. I had an anexiety attack right then and there in the middle of an office full of people who were supposed be helping me with that situation. I left and sat in my car having my anexity attack and crying hysterically I called the office from the parking lot begging them to just give me something. They said they would check with the doctor and never called back. Needless to say I found someone else that day. NEVER GO TO THIS DOCTOR EVER!!!!!

I recently attempted to contact through mail and the phones the Doctors in this practice to see if I could use them as a referral source for my psychotherapy patients. I have been in private practice for some time and have an excellent reputation. I was told by the secretary that none of the Doctors would get on the phone with me. A curious policy to be sure. If this says anything about the way in which they practice psychiatry I feel very sorry for their patients.

Never ever smiles. Accused me of self prescribing controlled substances with no evidence. Judgmental, doesn’t listen. And my problem turned out to be severe hypothyroidism which caused the depression in the first place. Find someone else.
