Dr. Robert Craig Gallagher, MD

Dr Gallagher repaired my mitral valve in 2009. It was a shock as I was only 32 and had just given birth to my daughter. Open heart surgery was prescribed for a newly discovered severe MVP with regurgitation that had already started to enlarge my left ventricle! I interviewed every prominent heart surgeon and he was the only one to answer the myriad of questions, treat me with the utmost respect, and the outcome remains perfect eleven years later. He was always available pre and post op. He is exemplary. I cannot thank him enough for his kind, confident, compassionate and expert care in the scariest time of my life. Thank you.

I was diagnosed with a thoracic aneurysm in my ascending aorta in the spring of 2014. I told my sister, a nurse at Hartford Hospital for 35 years, that I wanted the best. She recommended Dr. Robert Gallagher. During our initial consultation, which lasted a good hour, Dr. Gallagher explained the procedure to my wife and I, walking us through from start to finish including the material to be used and the risk involved. Two weeks later he performed the seven and a half hour surgery which included breaking the sternum, packing the heart with ice, repairing the aorta and minor valve repair. Three months later, I was able to resume jogging and three months after that, I ran the Manchester Road Race on Thanksgiving Day in a respectable time for a 70 year old. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Robert C. Gallagher.

It's now been 15 years since Dr. Gallagher performed 6 bypass on me. He is simply very very good and Danbury is very lucky to have him. I continue to do great and have been living a very rewarding life. Thank you Dr. Gallagher!

I owe him my life ..performed a 7 bypass and heart valve repair on me and am now doing great. I had this done while he was at Hartford hospital and must say Danbury is blessed to now have this man.

I have had by-pass surgery twice. First time a quadruple by-pass and then a double by-pass about ten years later. Dr. Gallagher did both surgeries. He is kind and very thorough; most impressive is his inclination to search out every alternative prior to surgery. Not many surgeons do that; he won't do surgery unless you really need it and when he does, it will be a first class job.

Dr. Gallagher operated on me two years ago for the second time to replace another heart valve. I feel better now than I ever have in my life. It is amazing.!

I had a series of small heart attacks and was admitted to the hospital. I had never previously met Dr. Gallagher, so I queried the hospital staff, they gave him a thumbs up, so I agreed to let him perform a quad heart bypass operation on me. No problems. Recovery was much quicker than I anticipated. No chest pains worth noting. Have been doing normal activities such as chores around the house (including snow blowing a year after the operation) and am still alive and kicking. I would recommend him.

I have yet to have my triple bypass.Dr Galleger has my trust he has made me unafraid to have this done.I am actually looking forward to getting my energy and doing things I used to do.i will make a comment after my sugery.

Dr. Gallagher gave me a sense of trust from the moment I met him. He is to the point and confident. His bedside manner is excellent and contrary to my other hospital visits I actually able to see and talk with him 3 or 4 four times during my 5 day stay. I would recommend him to anyone. My recovery was uncomplicated and reasonable quick and pain free. That same feeling of trust and assurance includes everyone with whom he associates himself with...GREAT TEAM.

I went in for a stent procedure, they did not do it because they found I needed a 4x heart by-pass. Dr. Gallagher was the greatest. Great bed side manner, and very professional. He made me and my wife feel like all would be well and it was. I feel great and it has been 16 months.
