This time last year, our son was diagnosed with a rare lung condition, AVM. Dr. Gates was kind, compassionate and caring as he took time to talk with us as individuals. We felt the presence of the Lord when we met him and we knew that God had ordained for him to be the one to "fix" our son Garrett. We were informed that Garrett would most likely stay 8-10 days in the hospital but most likely it could be closer to 8 and we were devastated as the surgery date was Dec. 20th. Our son informed everyone that he would be home in 3 days, he was prayed up and that God was going to heal him. Dr. Gates did not doubt our sons faith and he was touched by my sons confidence in God and he prayed with us. Garrett was able to go home 3 days after surgery as he had told us it would be and I think this 12 year old boy showed a lot of people what real faith looks like, including his parents. Dr. Gates was so excited after surgery but he was not surprised at how quickly Garrett was able to go home.… It was the best Christmas ever and we are forever grateful for the role that Dr. Gates played in this miracle. Garrett was able to play baseball in the spring, football workouts all summer and is currently playing WR for his 8th grade team at Mcracken Middle School in Spartanburg.
