Dr. Robert Spencer Gilbert, DO

This is the best doctor I have ever seen and I am 75 so that says a lot right there. He is the best to follow up and show his concern about healing.

I’m thankful for Dr. Bob and his staff. They treat our entire family and Dr. Bob is wise and will send you out for whatever diagnostic testing you may need. He and his staff are on the ball!

I've been seeing Dr. Gilbert for about 5 years and could not be happier with the care and friendly service they provide. I have never felt like a patient, I have always been made to feel more like family.

Dr. Gilbert, is a friendly, patient-centered physician. It may be hard to hear the truth about one's overall fitness. Dr. Gilbert has your best interest at heart and wants you to know exactly how healthy you are. If you are not where you need to be, Dr. Gilbert has a do plan and the willingness to help you get there. He has a thriving practice and time is precious, but he will spend the time to ensure that you understanding, lab work, procedural results, or your goals of care. He is on your side.!

Wife went in for her annual wellness check...covered by insurance 100%. During the course of the visit she asked to get a prescription refilled...got a bill for $140. Doesn't seem fair???

Rude, arrogant and inappropriate manner!

While I admire the profession, I am not too fond of doctors. Dr. Gilbert, however, is different. He actually treats patients as if they have an ability to think and he seems to allow patients to have some input in their own healthcare options. This is quite impressive and it is a big deal for me, especially because I am a Myers-Briggs INFJ (and INFJs tend to want to feel some control in situations). Also, he is very perceptive in that he is quick to notice patients' quirks and personal preferences and seems to oblige. The older schools of medicine may have indoctrinated doctors (no pun intended) with the idea that medicine is medicine and necessary procedures override the patients' need to feel safe, secure, and unbothered. Dr. Gilbert is fairly contemporary and 'marches to the beat of his own drum'. He wants patients to trust him and he ambitiously strives to be worthy of such trust. It may be that we both favor contemporary schools of thought, but that's good enough for me.

Dr. "Bob" listened to my symptoms and accurately diagnosed a very serious heart condition that could have been fatal if not caught. He never dismisses any symptoms and goes above and beyond. I trust him for my continuous care and the care of my family.

I took my whole family to Dr. Bob he was so amazing , he has the best bedside manner and took extra time with my wife and son to talk about everything they needed to keep them healthy. I will not go to any other family Doc in Trussville. We all had a great experience.
