Dr. Robert P Granacher Jr, MD

Dr Granacher is the best DR. I have ever seen. He was a life changer for me. He listened to me, was very caring, took a DNA test and put me on the meds I need. He left MT Vernon after his fall and he us truly missed!

Terrible things happened to me. Dr. Granacher provided a series of approaches to redirect my perspective. To neglect this work would have resulted in a perpetual lifetime of victimhood.

The most conceited doctor I have ever seen in my life. Very poor bedside manner, abrasive,cutting remarks and very moody. Never knew if I would get chewed out or what. He may have been good in his younger years but certainly not now. Talked about his wealth, houses, trips, vacations, books he had written and there was very little time to discuss what I was actually there for. I just cannot tell you how nervous and upset he can make you feel.He certainly was not the doctor for me.

An incredibly nasty, rude individual. My husband has brain damage and this doctor talked down to my husband and yelled at me. He was more interested in telling us how "world re-nowned" he was and the numerous credentials he possesed. I have been in the medical field myself for over thirty years and have never encountered a more hateful, malicious person. I feel sorry for his patients and staff. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone!

I wouldn't recommend this physician. His office staff was nice, and explained the testing procedures well. Dr. Granacher, however was rude,made several inappropriate statements regarding a traumatic event that occurred in my life. The trauma that happen to me was a sexual assault. He ask me to describe in detail what had occurred during the time of the assault. I replied to him that I had difficulties remembering,and I had difficulties discussing this event to my therapist on which I see on a regular basis.In my opinion he didn't take in consideration that this was extremely hard for me to discuss. He also mentioned to me about a personal item that belonged to him, and the cost of this item. I didn't care about the cost of a personal item that belonged to him. I discussed with him that I had difficulties with intimacy. I felt like he was pressuring me to discuss about my intimate relationship with my partner in full detail. He said inappropriate language when I replied that I… difficulties with intimacy. I have a same sex partner, and his comment to me was that I shouldn't be having difficulties with intimacy since I was involved with a same sex partner. I won't say anything else regarding these statements that he said. I find this doctor to be very rude. This was a traumatic experience.

I went to Dr Granacher for severe depression and anxiety issues that I had been dealing with for months. Needless to say I was very distraught and began crying in his office. He not only scolded me for crying he said that I was being very immature and that I was beyond help. Needless to say I left his office that day and I have never been back. I did find a very caring and sympathetic psychiatrist who I have been seeing since. This incident happened almost 16 years ago. This should never happen to anyone, especially someone who already has severe depression. If I had not had a wonderful family of supporters helping me through, this could have ended very tragically for me and my family.

I think this doctor needs to go back to caring about the patient 101.

Several doctors said the only care I needed was psychiatric. I made an appointment to see the most highly regarded specialist in Lexington to find out if I was indeed crazy. Dr. Granacher told me I was not crazy but behaving normally to a crazy situation. He was right, three other doctors were very wrong. I had been very sick for years. Since they were unable to diagnose my condition, I was labeled by the health care community as a "crazy doctor shopper." I was taken by ambulance to UK vomiting feces. I had a necrotic gall bladder that eventually ruptured shortly after seeing Dr. Granacher. During the last year of eight being sick I lost my house, business and health insurance that was dropped by the insurer. I will forever be indebted to Dr. Granacher for the wonderfully sane care he provided that enabled me to continue the belief I had in myself.

Granacher is defintely well known for his knowledge of medications and forensics. Nurses and others people warn that his bedside manner is nonexistent...I can attest to that. He was on a drug consult with me and was beyond abrasive, told me how many books he had written, that he was an expert, had testified at however many trials, cited in how many journals, how much land he owned, and that he was a certified millionaire. I have been around mental health long enough to know that this is DEFINTELY not the way to go. The next day, I was sent for a brain scan my attending had not mentioned. I asked the nurse who ordered it and they said Granacher did. My attending would NEVER order something without telling me. It was a scan to see if areas of my brain showed depression. Ridiculous...had been dealing with it for 11 years at that point and I refused the test. Probably looking to add to his millions.

Scarry at first, by the end of our meeting I felt a lot less fearful I had no idea was one of the top rated Doc's not only in the U.S. but in the world. I would see him again. It just took a while for me to calm down
