Dr. Robert Lee Harvey JR., DO

Took my husband to ER. He had blood work done 2 weeks ago for extreme fatigue. My husband has broken bone in his neck and back. Never went in for pain. Went in to hopefully see an endocrinologist. Dr Harvey comes in hoes later and and asks how my husband's doing. He said he's hurting from laying so long in the bed but tells Dr something is wrong that he's extremely fatigued. Dr says your blood work is fine. We don't have an endocrinologist and you can't have a pain pill because of your substance abuse. My husband sat up and told nurse to unhook him. How dare you judge me he said. I take pain medicine for my back. Funny how this Dr sees his medical records and judges so quickly. We left. So now on way to another hospital. Oh, and my husband's blood pressure was at stroke level, but it's OK nothing is wrong. I will be calling someone over this Dr. And file a complaint

My 13 year old grandson was seen in a walk-in clinic yesterday due to severe abdominal and stomach pain. He was sent home with two meds used to treat nausea. The next morning, he was in the ER at Winchester Medical Center with the same but more severe complaints. He was seen there by Dr. Harvey. I say "Seen" because that is virtually all that Dr. Harvey did. He did not do a physical exam, did not palpate the abdomen, did not order any tests beyond a CBC, CMP and U/A with micro. When these tests came back within normal limits, the patient was again sent home with more meds and NO DIAGNOSIS whatsoever. This visit took 5 hours. My grandson returned to the ER again in the evening with the SAME Complaints. This time an ultrasound and CT scan were ordered and the physician who treated him ACTUALLY performed a physical exam. Went home after another 5 hours in the ER with some questions answered by the U/S and CT and with directions for treatment and instructions to f/u with his… pediatrician in a few days. If the symptoms do not resolve, the instructions were to have his pediatrician refer him to a gastroenterologist. Wonder why it took TWO 5 hour trips to the ER to accomplish the goal of having this patient treated and given an explanation of possible causes of his pain?? Could have been that Dr. Harvey was totally ineffective in his approach to my grandson's symptoms the first time he was seen in the ER. Just my opinion but if I ever have to be treated in WMC's ER, I absolutely would refuse treatment by Dr. Harvey. I am very familiar with the quality of care provided by this facility in general which is usually excellent. But by keeping a physician like Dr. Harvey on their staff, they are doing the entire community a disservice.

Though all other healthcare professionals at the WMC ER were kind, helpful and appropriately concerned...Dr. R. Harvey turned out to be the most condescending, rude and even medically ignorant physician I've ever been "treated" by. He didn't do a physical exam or even lay eyes on my face for more than a few seconds and spoke to his monitor the whole time. His assistant showed more concern and compassion in just her eye contact and it felt like she was visibly uncomfortable with Dr. Harvey's incredibly cold demeanor and strange, uncalled for condescension. I don't know if he's new in the Winchester area or I'm just the first reviewer to comment because others fear they may have to see this ER physician again, but I have no such fear as I will never again agree to be unhelped by this man. Maybe he was having a bad day? Well, I have been having a bad YEAR and have seen a half dozen physicians just in the past 12 months; yet I've never before even considered writing a review (especially a… negative one) until I was (un)helped by Robert Harvey. It won't affect my life again, but I dearly hope this makes it's way back to him and he does some introspection before he finds himself amidst a malpractice suit.
