Dr. Robert Miles Hoffman

My father, a Korean War veteran, has been forced to see this VA doctor on several occasions. Each visit he has been told that his breathing problems are in his mind or strictly heart related. When a cardiologist outside the VA viewed CT scans of his lungs he found scarring in addition to heart disease. After finally being told that there was a more definitive reason for his suffering, after 2 years of searching, the VA sent him back to Dr. Hoffman for a follow-up and was told that the cardiologist lied and doesn’t know how to read CT scans. (Being in the medical field I know radiologist read the scans and tell the doctor their findings. I also know that any specialist can read and interpret those scans if they have to..) When our father asked what is he supposed to do when the VA cardiologist says it’s a lung issue and Hoffman says it’s a heart issue and the 2 can’t come to an understanding while he is stuck in the middle. Hoffman responded, “I guess you’re screwed.” Our mom and father… stormed out of the office that day and he has not been the same since...almost as if he had been stripped of all hope.
