Dr. Robert Edward Hogan JR., MD

The clinic staff is very rude, however, Dr. Hogan, his secretary and his triage nurses are phenomenal. They all go the extra step to assure my health and well-being are top priority. If it weren't for them I would not come back to that clinic. The front desk is so rude and the ma's are not knowledgeable at all. I wish he had his own clinic with the staff I talk to on the phone, because then the whole experience would be out of this world!

I began having nocturnal seizures at age 39 and was referred to this group by my PCP. I had a couple very caring young neuros who suggested a sleep study which I did. I entered the sleep study with the first not yielding any seizures and the second finally having one on the final day hours before leaving. Since nothing appeared on the EEG, Dr. Hogan, a "top doc" (insert hysterical laugh) affirmatively diagnosed me as non-epileptic psychogenic seizures simply because it did not fit neatly into any already established category and then proceeded to very rudely explain that it was most likely from my need for attention or from being sexually molested as a child (um... No!). As I tearfully and quietly explained, there have been many medical advanced in the last 20 years where doctors and science once thought it was all psychological but now there are medical explanations, I hardly think I'm seeking attention alone or in bed with my husband having a seizure at 4:00a.m. Being awakened… in an epileptic seizure from a deep sleep. He was extremely rude, inconsiderate, insensitive and instructed his younger staff to stop treatment. All he is concerned about is grants and further research on already known epileptic issues. Very sad to be called a top doc.

I would strongly advise anyone against who might be considering seeing Dr. Hogan. Never in my life have I had a more unpleasant experience with a doctor. Maybe he's smart but he has absolutely no bedside manner, is full of neglect, basically has no care in his heart at all. This man literally sat and yelled at me on multiple occasions. One day I was stuck in traffic and was around 20 minutes late. I called and said I would be late and when I arrived he began yelling at me and told me that I by my being late I was wasting his time. I was always scared to death to inform him when I would have a seizure because of what his response might be. Once I knew the cause of a seizure was because I had missed a couple doses of my meds. When I told him that, he once again began yelling at me and actually called me "stupid". When I told him to never speak to me like that he said that if I ever talked back to him again then I could walk out of his office and find another doctor. (Unfortunately,… with my insurance I had nobody else I could see). For one of my visits I brought my mother with me since I have no idea what happens during my seizures but she does. He came into the room and told her she had to leave. He said that I was an adult and I didn't need my "mommy" at my appointments with me. I had been telling her about him for months and I don't think she believed me but now she got to see it first hand. She stood up to him and gave him a piece of her mind and he stood there and yelled right in her face. Due to my inability to ever get ahold of him and his inability to ever call me back my seizures remained very out of control for the three years that I saw him. His neglect and lack of concern is to blame for a car wreck I was in in which I had a seizure while I was driving. I was told after the fact that I should've sued him but unfortunately the statute of limitations had lapsed. Bottom line, this doctor is a real zero.

This man was the rudest, most discourteous man I have ever met in my life. He has absolutely terrible bedside manner and is downright cruel. I highly advise against him.

Dr. Hogan did not give my mother the time she deserved. He was unable to grasp the complexity of her symptoms and therefore missed the fact that her brain was swelling for months before she fell and became paralyzed on her entire right side. Had he listened to our family when we voiced our concerns about her decrease in motor coordination and balance he may have been astute enough to order an MRI to detect the swelling; however, he was not. He told us to be patient and stay the course. My mother died on 12-14-09 due to complications resulting from massive swelling of the brain. I would never recommend Dr. Hogan.
