Dr. Robert Parker Hopkins, MD

I told Dr. Hopkins I had strong thoughts of suicide for several weeks. He did not increase my antidepressant and I tried to commit suicide. A later psychiatrist told me that not increasing the dosage was cause for malpractice. When I later told him I was moving away from the area he said he wished he could go with me. Very creepy and totally unprofessional/unethical!

Dr. Hopkins accepted me as a patient with an anxiety disorder. He saw me twice and prescribed an anti-anxiety medication which is addictive and can have serious withdrawal issues if stopped suddenly. When my insurance changed to a carrier Dr. Hopkins did not accept, he refused to refill my Rx and directed the pharmacist to tell me to get a new doctor. He left me in the lurch, with the pharmacist telling me that if I became ill, I should go to an emergency room immediately. I should note that: Dr. Hopkins 'voluntarily' surrendered his license to practice for six (6) years according to the Board of Registration. It seems that six years wasn't quite long enough.

EXCEPTIONAL COMPASSIONATE CLINICIAN. PROFESSIONAL WITH CLARITY AND OBJECTIVITY. NOT AFRAID TO GO THE EXTRA MILE FOR THE PATIENT AND EXPRESS HIS OPINION. LISTENS CAREFULLY TO MAKE SURE PATIENT NEEDS ARE MET.

Misdiagnosed me and kept me on an ineffective medication regime for 6 months. Always returned phone calls in a timely manner, but was not particularly polite during sessions. I finally saw another doctor who made the correct diagnosis (rather quickly) and switched my medications - it saved my life. Needless to say I did not have a good experience with this doctor and would recommend looking elsewhere for care.
