Dr. Robert George Hylland, MD

I can’t say enough how much time he spent with me!

I was referred to Dr. Hylland by my doctor for a possible autoimmune disease. They sent me to get an EMG at West Michigan Spine center. The EMG showed i had some neuropathy but not enough to cause all my symptoms. So the EMG doctor said in her report that it might be something deeper and that i might need further testing. When i went back to see Dr. Hylland he asked if i drank alcohol and i said i have a few drinks after dinner. He told me to stop drinking and see it the leg pain and numbness go away. I did that. And the pain never went away. And he never sent the EMG results to my family doctor. He only told him i should stop having my drinks after dinner. Almost a year later i have had MRI scans that show all kinds of spine issues and lesions on my brain. If Dr. Hylland was a good doctor i would have had the MRI and known about this a year ago. In my honest opinion Dr. Hylland is incompetent. It would have been nice if he had shared the results of my EMG and not just blame it on a… few drinks after dinner. Had nothing to do with that. The real doctors have found i have degenerated disks in my back and possibly MS My doctors are trying to get the results of the EMG that Dr. Hyllands office says are in there basement because it was 10 months ago. Unbelievably incompetent!

This office is dirty and outdated. The front desk staff is rude and seems to have too much going on. It took over a month for the staff to call about my irregular labs that my family Dr. addressed after only 24 hours. You wait all day for an appointment and on more than one occasion I’ve come in and seen staff crying. It’s very unprofessional and you can hear other patients appointments from your room. I would never recommend this office to anyone! Drive as far as you need to so you can get the care you deserve in a more professional office that doesn’t have such old run down way of doing things. Almost everything you need you’ll be referred back to you primary Dr. anyways. If the health department saw how disgusting this place was they would probably be shut down. Dr. Hylland doesn’t not listen to you and no matter what tells you to lose weight or implies you must have been sexually abused to cause your symptoms. He needs to retire and just give up. Worst patient care I have ever… received! My drive to Grand Rapids and visit time is still less than the amount of time I spent waiting to be told I was fat at every visit I went to.

Dr. Hylland seems nice at first but then just turns into a horrible doctor. All he does is tells you how fat you are and that you need to go on diet and all arthritis will go away. He doesn't listen to you if you are in pain. Plus you wait for up to 2 hours past your scheduled appointment time to get into a room. Just not a good place to go.

I saw two different rheumatologists at Metro hospital before they both moved out of the area. I was prescribed Humira and my pain was under control as well as my psoriasis. Once they moved I was sent to Dr. Hylland, although I never saw him, only his PA. He said there is nothing wrong with me and he didn't know where the pain was coming from, I didn't show any symptoms and he would not renew my Humira prescription. The psoriasis is now back, as well as the pain. I currently sit here typing this with a painful swollen finger, a nail starting to turn colors, and a toe that hurts when I step. Can't wait for the rest of the pain and symptoms to get worse like they were before... after all, there is nothing wrong with me and the other two Dr's I saw for years didn't know what they were talking about... they just treated me for over 10 years for no reason.

Dr. Hylland and his staff have always been caring and compassionate. I have been a patient of his for a number of years. Prior to me seeing him, I had been misdiagnosed and was told that my sore joints, back aches and colitis were not related. Once I began seeing Dr. Hylland, he put the pieces of the puzzle together and I have felt like a new person!

Great Physician! Very knowledgeable! Spends time explaining things in terms that you can understand. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Unlike the Grand Rapids doctors, it is easy to make an appointment and be seen in a reasonable amount of time

Beware of this creep... i don’t care what accolaides he has achieved... he touched me inappropriately And did a lot of mind manipulation with my past abuse. I am sickened that this person can continue praying on females and still practice medicine.

Disregards patient concerns. Claims depression is the fault of pain. Claims faith and time will heal Rheumatoid arthritis and diet will heal Crohns and UC. Tells his patients to get "fixed" like they are dogs. Terrible to try to get an appointment. Bedside manner is like a child. Being young and having massive amounts of pain is "all in your head". Will tell you your x-rays are normal when they aren't. In it for the money, lacks empathy.

I called to make an appointment with Holland and when I arrived I was told I was to see his PA. This was a grave mistake. I never returned!!!
