It’s hard to believe this doctor is still being listed after being convicted of 6 counts of sexual assault. One patient he molested (A UC Berkeley Student) ended up committing suicide. His license to practice medicine was revoked. I don’t care about his great relationships with his patients, he is a danger.

I am apparently not the first person to stumble across this page, having heard the recent news of accusations against Dr. Kevess. I, too, would like to express my surprise and dismay at the recent allegations. I have been to the Tang center a number of times for a variety of things in my few years spent here at Berkeley, and, having seen at least four or five doctors on staff, I, too learned to request Dr. Kevess (or, as I said to the admitting nurse, "the one whose name begins with K"). I learned the hard way.I was misdiagnosed by another doctor with some form of allergies, which a steroid inhaler didn't clear up. When I went back and got Dr. Kevess, he discovered that I'd somehow gotten a bacterial infection in my lungs, which antibiotics cleared up in a relatively short period of time. Later, a tick bite. It was "cleaned" by another doctor, and subsequently infected with drug-resistant staph (cipro had no effect after over a week; the infection worsened). Dr. Kevess changed… the antibiotics, wound up tweaking some prescriptions, and got me back to my old self in under a month. But any good doctor would have done the same, and there are undoubtedly many good doctors at the Tang Center. Dr. Kevess was simply very professional, forthcoming, and by far the most amicable doctor that I've ever even dealt with. He didn't just prescribe things; he'd explain what his understanding/thoughts were regarding given symptoms, and explain the rationale for the prognosis and treatment prescribed -- all in a manner understandable to someone with a relatively basic knowledge of biology and medical terminology. Both his methodology and manner with which he dealt with patients were simply better than all but a few doctors I've ever dealt with, my father being an exception. Dr. Kevess is/was simply a good doctor who really knew his stuff and took the time to figure things out to find what was wrong. I've grown up with one around the house, and know what it takes to be a good doctor. These accusations confuse me more than anything. I sincerely hope that they are proven to be false. -A third year Cal student.

In light of the recent allegations against Dr. Kevess, I wanted to share my experience with him as THE best, most caring physician I have ever had. As a student at UC Berkeley, I have had the opportunity to visit multiple MDs and NPs at Tang Center. None have equaled Dr. Kevess' attention to detail, bedside manner or willingness to spend time with me getting to the bottom of some rather obscure diagnoses.Given the state of our medical system, I have come to expect to be rushed through visits and given slap-stick diagnoses (this has, in fact, been my experience most of my life). I met Dr. Kevess at an urgent care visit and expected the same-- much to my surprise, he sat down with me and took an extensive history on a problem that had been previously misdiagnosed. He was the first and only medical provider to correctly diagnose the condition. Beyond that, I was overwhelmed by his kindness, genuineness and willingness to listen.Since then, I always requested Dr. Kevess for my medical… visits, and walked out of every visit thankful to have had such quality care-- not once did I feel rushed, and he took the time to address MULTIPLE issues in one visit. I have never experienced that kind of care. Other doctors at Tang consulted him when they couldn't figure out a diagnosis. It is my sense that he was deeply respected by patients and colleagues alike.I also know that he volunteered numerous hours at the Berkeley Free Clinic.I am obviously deeply shocked and saddened by the recent allegations against Dr. Kevess. I hope they are proven false so that Dr. Kevess can return to providing quality care that is so difficult to come by in today's era of bottom-line medicine.

Dr. Kevess was my Psychiatrist when I attended UC Berkeley. He has been my favorite by far. Not only was he sensitive to my needs, he was always in a good mood and genuine. I seriously was so lucky to have such a great psychiatrist to help through the rough times of college. I highly recommend him!
