About Dr. Klomparens
Dr. Robert Klomparens was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, moving to Midland at a young age. He attended Midland Public Schools and graduated from Herbert Henry Dow High School in 1972. He received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Hope College in 1975. Dr. Klomparens attended the University of Michigan and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1979 and his Master of Science (MS) degree in 1981 for his specialist certification in orthodontics. He graduated in the top 10% of his dental school class.
After graduating from dental school, Dr. Klomparens practiced in both Saginaw and Midland, eventually setting up his long-standing practice in Midland. Dr. Klomparens has been creating beautiful smiles since 1981. The focus of Dr. Klomparens practice is commitment to providing premier quality orthodontic care in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with treatment based on the specific orthodontic needs of each patient. To accomplish this, Dr. …Klomparens uses his unique skill and ability to custom bend orthodontic wires to fit the specific treatment needs of each individual patient.
Dr. Klomparens has earned Diplomate Status in the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO). Diplomate Status is the highest accreditation and certification that can be obtained in the orthodontic profession and is the only orthodontic specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association and sponsored by the American Association of Orthodontists. To be accredited, Dr. Klomparens passed a stringent written exam and presented twelve orthodontic cases to a panel of peers from across the country. Dr. Klomparens is the only ABO-certified orthodontist in the Midland area.
Continuing education for both the staff and Dr.  Klomparens  is very important. He is a member and past president of the Midland Dental Society and the Saginaw Valley Dental Society, and an active member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, Great Lakes Orthodontic Society, American Association of Orthodontists, Charles Tweed International Foundation and the American Board of Orthodontics. He is also on the teaching staff of the Charles Tweed Foundation for Continuing Education, which allows him the opportunity to pass on his skills to other orthodontists from all over the world.
Dr. Klomparens and his wife, Cathy, enjoy their family time with their children, Heather, Brent, Dan and Dana, and their grandchildren, Leah and Carter. He also enjoys golfing, skiing, exercising, fishing and U of M football games.
Tweed Foundation
Dr. Klomparens recently taught at an extensive 11-day orthodontic course at the Charles H. Tweed International Orthodontic Foundation in Tucson, Arizona. The course was attended by 116 orthodontists and orthodontic students from the United States, Korea, Brazil, Morocco, France, Italy and Spain. Dr. Klomparens has been on the teaching staff since 1991 and this was his seventh time teaching this course. The Charles H. Tweed Foundation was formed in 1941 to share and teach advanced orthodontic training that emphasizes facial growth and balanced profiles. The course provides orthodontic students and practicing orthodontists with a greater and specialized understanding of diagnosis, treatment planning and ability to manipulate orthodontic wires for advanced and customized treatment of orthodontic patients.
