Dr. Robert Louis Korngut, DDS

Twenty years ago, I developed a strong interest as to how I can help people who snore and have sleep apnea while maintaining my general dentistry practice of over forty years. While introducing Dental Sleep Medicine into my practice, I've kept abreast of current advancements in dentistry through continuing education and my teaching position at New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Success in treating patients has brought me and my patients great satisfaction. Early in my career I worked as an associate in a pediatric dental practice. Recently, I have become very concerned about children who have problems sleeping who grow up to become adults with problems! I believe it is better to prevent a health problem from developing rather than to try to cure it. When parents understand how they can help their children become healthier, better students and better behaved, they are eager to learn how a specially trained dentist can help them and their families. Dr. Robert Korngut …graduated with honors from NYU in 1977 and completed a hospital residency in 1978. He volunteered at Catholic Charities in Brooklyn and treated developmentally disabled patients for 18 years. That was in addition to teaching at the general practice residency at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. In 2000 he was asked by the Chief of Sleep Medicine at Methodist to join their team. In 2007 he was one of the first dentists to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Korngut has two grown sons, one is an astrophysicist at NASA's jet propulsion lab and the other is completing a Doctorate in Ancient Philosophy. He enjoys woodworking and art.
