Dr. Robert Martin Laporte, MD

Robert LaPorte, MD, joined Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers in February 2004. He specializes in breast and prostate cancer and works at RMCC's Thornton location.

Dr. LaPorte is originally from Michigan and graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor's degree in physics. He earned his medical doctorate from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois. He did his internship at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and his residency in radiation oncology at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. LaPorte is board certified in radiation oncology and served as the radiation oncology department head at San Juan Regional Cancer Center in New Mexico for eleven years.

"My father was a physician and my mother was a nurse," said Dr. LaPorte. "I felt my greatest contribution to my community would be practicing medicine. Once my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer I knew what specialty I wanted to pursue."

Dr. LaPorte believes in providing his …patients with as much information as possible; this requires listening to patients and trying to make decisions as a team. The most rewarding aspect of his work is helping cure patients and being an active participant/navigator in their decision making process.

He volunteers his time with the Knights of Columbus. He is a member of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiation and Oncology, the American College of Radiology and the European Society of Therapeutic Radiation and Oncology.

When Dr. LaPorte is not at work he tries to spend as much time with his three children as possible. He also enjoys cooking and staying healthy.
